What is the Disney Dining Plan?
Heading off to Disney World? Looking for an easy way to pre-pay for meals? This Disney Dining Plan is your ultimate ticket to a culinary adventure! I’m here to give you the inside scoop on the Disney Dining Plan.
Hey Disney Vacationers! Alright, let’s cut through the fluff. If you’re planning a Disney World trip and wondering “what is the Disney Dining Plan?”, you’ve come to the right place. If you’ve got kids, big eaters, or want to lock in vacation costs upfront, it can be a game changer.
I’ve used it. I’ve skipped it. I’ve made it work to our advantage —and I’ve definitely wasted a few snack credits at the end of a trip. So let’s break down what it includes, how it works, and whether it’s the right fit for your Disney World vacation in 2025.
What is the Disney Dining Plan?
It’s a prepaid meal package that’s only available to guests staying at a Disney World Resort hotel. You pay for your meals and snacks ahead of time, so you don’t have to think about the bill every time you eat in the parks. Just tap your MagicBand or phone in the parks. No digging for a credit card every time you want a churro.
What Are the Disney Dining Plan Options?
Here’s a quick comparison of the two available plans for 2025:
| Plan | What’s Included (Per Night) | Adult Price (10+) | Child Price (3–9) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quick-Service Dining Plan | 2 Quick-Service meals, 1 snack, 1 refillable mug | $59.14 | $24.71 |
| Disney Dining Plan | 1 Quick-Service meal, 1 Table-Service meal, 1 snack, 1 refillable mug | $97.79 | $30.56 |
These prices are charged per person, per night of your stay. If you’re staying 5 nights, each guest gets 5 days’ worth of meals and snacks to use during the trip.

What’s Included in Each Meal and Snack
If you’re new to the Disney Dining Plan, it helps to know exactly what you’re getting. Each credit—whether it’s for a meal or a snack—has a defined value, and knowing what’s included makes it easier to decide how to use your credits strategically (and not waste them on bottled water at the last minute).
| Type | What You Get |
|---|---|
| Quick-Service Meal | One entrée and one beverage (includes alcoholic drinks for guests 21+) at participating counter-service locations |
| Table-Service Meal | One entrée, one beverage, and one dessert (for breakfast/lunch/dinner), or one full buffet/family-style meal. Alcoholic beverages included for guests 21+ |
| Snack Credit | Items like popcorn, Dole Whip, Mickey Bars, bottled drinks, and EPCOT festival dishes. Look for the purple and white DDP symbol on menu boards |
| Refillable Resort Mug | Unlimited refills of soda, coffee, or tea at any Disney Resort hotel’s self-service beverage stations (not valid in the theme parks) |
Both Quick-Service and Table-Service meals include one alcoholic beverage for guests 21 and older. Options vary by location and may include beer, wine, or specialty cocktails. Valid ID is required.
What About Takeout Pizza?
Here’s a fun fact: at select Disney Resort hotels, you can use two adult Quick-Service credits to cover a pizza delivery or takeout meal. It includes:
- One large pizza
- Two non-alcoholic beverages
- Two desserts
This option is only available at participating resorts and must be ordered through in-room dining or resort quick-service locations. It’s a good use of credits if you want a laid-back night in your room after a long park day. Here are the participating resorts:
- Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Disney’s Boardwalk Resort – Pizza Window
- Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
- Disney’s Pop Century Resort
- Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter
- Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside.
Just keep in mind—it uses two adult Quick-Service credits, even if you’re using it for a mix of adults and kids.
As you can see, the credits can go pretty far—especially if you’re smart about where and how you use them. Using a snack credit on an $8 food booth item at EPCOT? Smart. Using a Table-Service credit on a $21 lunch entrée when you could use it for a $59 character buffet? Not so smart. The more you know going in, the better the plan works for you.
How the Disney Dining Plan Works
To use the Disney Dining Plan, you must stay at a Disney World Resort hotel and book a vacation package that includes park tickets. You can’t add the plan to a room-only booking.
Once added, everyone on your reservation must be on the same dining plan. There’s no splitting—if one person gets the Dining Plan, everyone does.
You can add the Dining Plan when you book your vacation, or up to 48 hours before your arrival. Meals and snacks are preloaded to your account and tracked in the My Disney Experience app or on your receipts.
Dining credits are pooled per person, per night of your stay. That means if you’re staying five nights, you’ll have five Quick-Service, Table-Service meals and five snacks to use per person (if you’re on the regular Disney Dining Plan). Use them however you want during the trip—they don’t have to be spread out one per day. Just make sure to use them before midnight on the day you check out.
Where You Can Use the Disney Dining Plan
The Dining Plan is accepted at most locations across Walt Disney World, including:
- Magic Kingdom
- EPCOT
- Hollywood Studios
- Animal Kingdom
- Disney Resort hotels
- Disney Springs
Not every restaurant accepts the Dining Plan, so check in the My Disney Experience app before heading to a new spot. You can also ask Cast Members at the entrance of each restaurant. Here is the full list of participating dining locations.
When the Disney Dining Plan Makes Sense
The Disney Dining Plan can be a great value—if you plan to use it wisely. It’s ideal for families who:
- Want to book character dining or buffets
- Prefer to prepay and not think about food budgets while on vacation
- Plan to use snack credits during EPCOT festivals
- Have big eaters or teens with large appetites
If you’re hitting a character meal every day or enjoying a few signature dining spots, you’ll often come out ahead financially—and the convenience can’t be beat.
When You Might Want to Skip It
That said, it’s not for everyone. You might want to skip the plan if:
- You’re a light eater or prefer smaller meals and snacks
- You don’t want to commit to Table-Service dining reservations
- You’re planning to eat off-property
- You want total control of your daily food budget
- You don’t want to worry about using up all your credits
Also note: tips at Table-Service restaurants aren’t included, so you’ll still need to budget for gratuities.
Top 5 Tips From Someone Who’s Actually Used It
Here’s how to get the most out of your Dining Plan:
- Make your dining reservations as soon as possible—the 60-day window is critical, especially for popular meals like ‘Ohana or Story Book Dining.
- Use Table-Service credits for high-value meals like buffets and character dining. Avoid using them on lower-cost entrees or using them for Signature Dining Experiences like California Grill.
- Snack credits go far at EPCOT—especially during festivals. You can find great small plates that are eligible and cost over $8 out-of-pocket. A good rule of thumb is if a snack is under $5, it’s usually not a good value for a snack credit.
- Track your credits in the My Disney Experience app so you don’t leave any unused.
- Use Quick Service credit on lunch over breakfast. In general, the cost of a quick service meal at lunch is higher than breakfast at your resort. This is especially true if you select an alcoholic beverage as your drink at lunch.
It’s easy to let credits slip away if you’re not paying attention. A little planning on the front end can mean bigger savings and less stress while you’re actually enjoying your vacation. The goal isn’t just to use your credits—it’s to use them smartly.
Are You Ready to Dine in Disney Style?
Here’s the bottom line: If you’re planning character meals, buffets, or want the comfort of having meals prepaid, the Disney Dining Plan might be a great fit for your trip. It brings predictability, flexibility, and convenience to your vacation.
But if your group prefers spontaneity, lighter eating, or off-property dining, you’ll likely do better paying as you go.
