Skip baggage claim on the way in, skip the check-in line on the way out. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort has joined the Airport Luggage Transfer at Disney service — and it’s the first Moderate Resort in the program, which previously covered only Value Resorts.
Here’s exactly how it works and what to watch for.
Quick Summary
- Caribbean Beach is the first Moderate Resort in the program
- The service is run by BagCheck, not Disney directly
- Only American, Southwest, and United flights qualify
- Domestic flights only
- Register between 30 days and 24 hours before your flight
- Allow up to 4 hours for bags to reach the resort
- It’s a pilot program and can change without notice
What the Service Does
The Airport Luggage Transfer at Disney service, run by BagCheck, lets guests at select Disney Resorts Collection hotels send bags to and from Orlando International Airport.
You skip baggage claim on arrival and skip the check-in line at the airport when you leave.
Why This Is Not Magical Express
Anyone who remembers Disney’s Magical Express will notice the resemblance, and the differences matter.
Magical Express was free, included motorcoach transportation, and ended in 2021. Its luggage service collected your bags at the airport and delivered them to your room without you touching them.
This is a narrower product. It’s luggage only — no transportation is included, so you still need to arrange your own way from MCO to the resort. It’s operated by a third party rather than by Disney. And it works only with three airlines on domestic routes.
It’s a genuine convenience, but it isn’t the old benefit returning. Setting expectations accordingly avoids disappointment.
Participating Resorts
With this expansion, the service now covers:
- Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
- Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Why Caribbean Beach Specifically
Of all the Moderate resorts, Caribbean Beach is the sensible first choice, and the reasons are logistical.
It’s enormous and spread out. Caribbean Beach spans six themed villages around a 45-acre lake, and the walk from a bus stop to a room can be substantial. Anything that removes luggage from that journey helps disproportionately here.
It already has Skyliner infrastructure and a central Custom House arrival point, meaning the resort is built around handling guest flow at a single hub — useful for a service that needs a reliable bell services operation.
It also has the highest room count of the Moderates, which gives the pilot a meaningful sample size.
Reading it forward: if this works at Caribbean Beach, Coronado Springs, Port Orleans, and eventually the Deluxe resorts are the logical next steps. The expansion from Value to Moderate is the signal that the pilot is going reasonably well.
Participating Airlines
The service works only if you’re flying:
- American Airlines
- Southwest Airlines
- United Airlines
Disney says more airlines could be added later.
Note who’s missing. Delta, JetBlue, Spirit, Frontier, Alaska, and Breeze all serve Orlando heavily, and Delta in particular carries a large share of MCO traffic. If you fly any of them, this doesn’t apply to you.
On Arrival — Step by Step
Register between 30 days and 24 hours before your flight. You’ll need:
- Your resort confirmation number
- Your flight confirmation number
You’ll get a confirmation email once registered.
Register more than 7 days out and you’ll get luggage tags in the mail. Register closer to your trip and you won’t get tags — but your bags still get delivered, and you can track them through the link in your confirmation email.
Then:
- Check in for your flight online and pay any bag fees
- Drop your bags at the airport following your airline’s normal process
- Land at MCO and head straight to Caribbean Beach — no baggage claim stop
- Allow up to 4 hours from your flight’s arrival for bags to reach the resort
- Collect at Luggage Assistance/Bell Services in the lobby, or call from your in-room phone to have them brought up
Gratuities aren’t included.
The Four-Hour Window Is the Catch
This is the detail that decides whether the service is right for your trip.
Four hours is a long time if you land in the morning. A 10am arrival means bags might not appear until 2pm — after you’ve checked in, changed, and possibly headed to a park.
Pack a carry-on as though you’ll be without your checked bag for half a day, because you might be. Park clothes, sunscreen, and anything you need for a first afternoon should not be in the bag you hand over.
If you land in the evening, it’s close to seamless — the bags arrive while you’re at dinner.
On Departure — Step by Step
- Check in online starting 24 hours before departure and pay any bag fees through your airline’s app or site
- Drop luggage at Luggage Assistance/Bell Services between 24 and 4 hours before your flight — bring them yourself or call from your room for pickup
- Bring a government-issued photo ID and your boarding pass to the lobby at drop-off
- Head to the airport, skip the check-in line
- Collect your luggage at baggage claim once you land
The Departure Side Is the Stronger Half
Being honest about which direction delivers more value: it’s this one.
Dropping bags the night before your flight frees up your entire last day. Instead of checking out, storing luggage, and hauling it to a bus, you check out with a backpack and spend the day in a park.
Skipping the airport check-in line at MCO is genuinely worth something. Orlando’s departures hall is one of the busiest in the country, and check-in queues at peak times can be lengthy.
The 4-hour cutoff is the constraint — an early morning flight means dropping bags the previous evening, so plan your last night’s packing accordingly.
A Few Things to Know
- Domestic flights only
- Strollers and car seats: if you’d rather keep them, check at the gate and tell the agent you want them back at the gate on arrival
- Keep medications, electronics, perishables, and important documents in your carry-on
- Flights landing after 11pm: either grab your bags at baggage claim yourself, or wait for BagCheck to deliver within 4 hours
- This is a pilot program, subject to change or cancellation without notice
That last point deserves weight. Pilot programs at Walt Disney World have a mixed record — some become permanent, others quietly disappear. Don’t build a trip around a service that carries an explicit cancellation caveat.
Should You Use It?
Yes if: you’re flying American, Southwest, or United domestically, arriving in the afternoon or evening, and departing on a later flight.
Probably not if: you land early and need your bag immediately, you’re flying an unlisted airline, or you’re travelling internationally.
Either way, pack your carry-on as though the checked bag will be four hours behind you.
The Bottom Line
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort has joined the Airport Luggage Transfer at Disney service, becoming the first Moderate Resort in a program that previously covered only Value Resorts.
It covers American, Southwest, and United on domestic flights, requires registration between 30 days and 24 hours out, and allows up to 4 hours for delivery.
It remains a pilot program and can change without notice.
