Your Friendly Guide to Tipping at Disney World

Trying to figure out when you should tip at Disney World? You’ve come to the right place! This friendly guide to tipping at Disney World will walk you through all areas of your trip!

Hey there, Disney vacationers! Are you gearing up for an unforgettable adventure at Walt Disney World but feeling a tad puzzled about the ins and outs of tipping at Disney World? Worry not! I’m here to sprinkle some pixie dust on this often confusing topic and make your Disney trip as magical and hassle-free as possible.

Luggage Handling

A Helping Hand Deserves a Thank You
  • Airports & Hotels: A standard $2-$3 per bag is a kind gesture for those handling your luggage. Got a particularly heavy bag (over 50 lbs)? Feel free to tip a bit more!
  • Self-Service Option: Traveling light? You can skip the tipping by handling your bags yourself. It’s a great way to save a few dollars, especially if you’re able to manage your luggage easily.

Transportation

From Buses to Towncars and Limos
  • Airport Buses: No need to tip for a quick hop on and off. But if the driver assists with your bags, $2-$3 per bag is the norm. This would include services like Mears Connect.
  • Limo and Town Car Drivers: Generally, 15% of the fare is appreciated. If they go the extra mile (like helping with lots of luggage), consider tipping more.
  • Taxis: About 15-20% of the fare is standard. For exceptional service, feel free to add a bit extra.
  • Ride Sharing (Uber/Lyft): Tipping has become more common here. You can tip through the app or in cash, based on your comfort.
  • Minnie Vans: While not required, a few dollars for excellent service is a nice gesture.

Dining Delights

Showing Appreciation
  • Table Service: An 18-20% tip is standard for the delightful service at Disney’s table service restaurants. At the bottom of your receipt, you’ll recommended tip amounts already calculated for you. Please note if you are a party of 6 or more guests it is standard that an 18% gratuity be automatically added to your bill.
  • Buffet Service: Buffet servers work hard too! The same 18-20% tip as table service is a good rule of thumb.
  • Lounges or Bars: Usually a $1 to $2 tip per drink is about right. If you get food as well, defer to the 18% to 20% of the check.
  • Room Service: Tips for room service or in-room dining are traditionally included in the total, but be sure to confirm. If the server is extra nice consider adding a little extra on top.
  • Disney Dining Plan: Remember, tips aren’t included in the Disney Dining Plan so keep some cash or cards handy for this.

Valet Parking

For that Extra Convenience
  • A $2-$5 tip each time you drop off and retrieve your car is typical at Disney’s deluxe resorts and other properties offering valet services.

Housekeeping

For a sparkling Stay
  • A daily tip of about $1 per person in your party is a thoughtful way to thank those who keep your room cozy and clean.

Other Services

From Spas to Childcare
  • Salon/Spa Services: A 15-20% tip is customary for personal care services. Including experiences like Bibbidi, Bobbidi Boutique, Pirates League, or the Harmony Barber Shop.
  • Recreation: Tip at least 15% for special recreational services like boat rides or tennis lessons.
  • Childcare: A $10-$20 tip is a nice thank you for babysitters, especially if they’ve made your little ones’ experience magical.
  • Concierge Services: For basic requests, there is no need to tip. However, if you find a concierge member extra helpful or going above and beyond to resolve your problem, consider showing your appreciation with a small tip.
  • Concierge Suite Level: If you’re staying in a concierge room at a Disney resort and using the lounge, consider tipping based on the length of your stay and the number of people.

I’m no stranger to Disney planning, as a Disneyland magic key holder and DVC member. I’m the person people ask for trip planning advice. But I had never been on a Disney cruise, and had heard great about Nate and decided to reach out. I’m so glad I did because we could not have been happier with our experience. His tips and insights were incredibly helpful, and he was incredibly responsive any time we had a question. Who do the Disney experts turn to when they need help? Nate, that’s who. We’ll definitely be using him again.

Our experience working with Nate as our Disney vacation planner was exceptional. He was responsive and thorough. He gave us insights that made the trip go much more smoothly. We were able to really relax and focus on quality time as a family and have so much fun doing it! I will definitely reach out for any future trips.

Could not have wanted or expected more from Nate, our Distrips and More agent as we planned our 2025 Disney World trip. Nate was VERY responsive to emails and texts and more than willing to do whatever he could to guide us and answer our questions. On several occasions I emailed him over the weekend not expecting a response until Monday but each time he responded before the weekend was over. He even participated in a Zoom session with our group of five seniors as we planned our trip. He also helped us at the 11th hour when we added a family member to our travel group less than a month before our trip. Without a doubt, I will reach out to Nate when I'm ready to plan my next trip to Disney World!

We are so thankful we used Nate to plan not only our first Disney trip, but also our second. He made the process so easy for us, especially for us since it was our first time going. There was a lot to consider and many decisions to make, such as where to stay, when to go, and what to experience. Nate really helped us narrow down what we wanted to do overall, but he didn’t stop there. He provided detailed guides to help us navigate the airport and find our transportation to the resort, as well as a guide to explore the resorts and make sure we saw the best Christmas decorations. One of the many amazing things he also did was set up our dinner reservations for us. This saved us so much stress and allowed us to get some of our top choices. From the moment we landed in Orlando to the moment we headed back home, he made sure everything went smoothly. You truly can’t go wrong with going to him for your next trip.

Nathan has been an amazing trip planner for me! So helpful and responsive. I am a very type A person -- so someone who is even more on top of their game than me -- is so so appreciated! Nathan has booked 3 trips for me (1 completed 2 pending) and it was perfection. Thanks again!

Nate has helped us with our vacation planning for the last couple of years and we couldn't be happier with his service and expertise. We've used other travel agents in the past and none of them have done as phenomenal a job to make sure every detail is taken care of as he has. Switching to Nate was one of the best decisions we've ever made. He's always quick to answer questions and works tirelessly to make sure we get everything we want from our trips. Plus, he's just a genuinely great person who is wonderful to work with. Whether you're planning a trip to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, a Disney Cruise, or any other vacation, Nate is the guy you want putting it all together! Five stars across the board!
