A brand-new, year-round haunted house attraction is making its way to Sin City, promising to deliver chills and thrills at AREA15, the already buzzing complex that’s about to get a whole lot spookier. Let’s look at what we know about Universal’s Las Vegas haunted attraction.

What’s the Buzz About?

Imagine stepping into a world where every corner holds a story, every shadow hides a creature, and every scream echoes a tale of horror. That’s exactly what Universal is crafting with its latest venture—a permanent haunt location that’s not just for Halloween but for every single day of the year. This isn’t just any haunted house; it’s a horror experience crafted by the masterminds behind the legendary Halloween Horror Nights.

A Glimpse into the Future

AREA15, known for its immersive experiences and attracting over 2.4 million visitors a year, is set to expand with Universal’s haunted attraction as its centerpiece. The concept art released teases a venue that’s a horror fan’s dream come true, bringing Universal’s vast library of classic and modern horror characters to life. But it’s not all scares; the venue promises to be a dynamic space with immersive haunted house experiences by night and haunting bars and eateries by day, alongside unique merchandise offerings.

More Than Just a Haunt

Page Thompson, President of New Ventures at Universal Parks & Resorts, describes it as a “horror party” that’s all about fun and not just gore. The attraction will anchor AREA15’s upcoming 20-acre expansion, with over 413,000 square feet of customizable retail space. Universal’s slice of this expansion will boast 110,000 square feet, enough to house three full-scale haunted house attractions, dining, and shopping opportunities.

What Can We Expect?

The buzz around the attraction includes rumors of revolving haunted house experiences featuring Universal’s in-house properties like the Classic Monsters, modern horror films, and Halloween Horror Night icons. The concept art even hints at appearances by Jack the Clown and Chance, stirring excitement about what or who else might make an appearance.

A Hub of Horror and Fun

The space between the dining, shopping, and haunted house entrances is rumored to be an open hub, potentially set up like a scare zone with roaming scareactors. This adds an extra layer of immersion, making the entire venue a continuous experience of suspense and surprise.

Trademark Teases

Recent trademark applications for “Universal Horror Unleashed” suggest a comprehensive branding for the experience, covering everything from restaurants and bars to merchandise. While the official name remains under wraps, the concept art and trademarks hint at a horror universe waiting to be explored.

When Can We Experience the Terror?

While an official timeline hasn’t been announced, rumors suggest an opening as soon as 2024. With groundbreaking expected in the next six months, the anticipation is building for what could be the ultimate horror destination.

A New Era of Horror

This announcement follows Universal’s reveal of a new kid-centric park in Frisco, Texas, showcasing the company’s diverse expansion plans. Universal’s Las Vegas Haunted Attraction at AREA15 is set to redefine horror entertainment, offering a year-round destination for fans and thrill-seekers alike.

So, whether you’re a horror aficionado or just looking for a unique adventure, this attraction promises to deliver an unforgettable experience. I’m no stranger to Disney planning, as a Disneyland magic key holder and DVC member. I’m the person people ask for trip planning advice. But I had never been on a Disney cruise, and had heard great about Nate and decided to reach out. I’m so glad I did because we could not have been happier with our experience. His tips and insights were incredibly helpful, and he was incredibly responsive any time we had a question. Who do the Disney experts turn to when they need help? Nate, that’s who. We’ll definitely be using him again.

Our experience working with Nate as our Disney vacation planner was exceptional. He was responsive and thorough. He gave us insights that made the trip go much more smoothly. We were able to really relax and focus on quality time as a family and have so much fun doing it! I will definitely reach out for any future trips.

Could not have wanted or expected more from Nate, our Distrips and More agent as we planned our 2025 Disney World trip. Nate was VERY responsive to emails and texts and more than willing to do whatever he could to guide us and answer our questions. On several occasions I emailed him over the weekend not expecting a response until Monday but each time he responded before the weekend was over. He even participated in a Zoom session with our group of five seniors as we planned our trip. He also helped us at the 11th hour when we added a family member to our travel group less than a month before our trip. Without a doubt, I will reach out to Nate when I'm ready to plan my next trip to Disney World!

We are so thankful we used Nate to plan not only our first Disney trip, but also our second. He made the process so easy for us, especially for us since it was our first time going. There was a lot to consider and many decisions to make, such as where to stay, when to go, and what to experience. Nate really helped us narrow down what we wanted to do overall, but he didn’t stop there. He provided detailed guides to help us navigate the airport and find our transportation to the resort, as well as a guide to explore the resorts and make sure we saw the best Christmas decorations. One of the many amazing things he also did was set up our dinner reservations for us. This saved us so much stress and allowed us to get some of our top choices. From the moment we landed in Orlando to the moment we headed back home, he made sure everything went smoothly. You truly can’t go wrong with going to him for your next trip.

Nathan has been an amazing trip planner for me! So helpful and responsive. I am a very type A person -- so someone who is even more on top of their game than me -- is so so appreciated! Nathan has booked 3 trips for me (1 completed 2 pending) and it was perfection. Thanks again!

Nate has helped us with our vacation planning for the last couple of years and we couldn't be happier with his service and expertise. We've used other travel agents in the past and none of them have done as phenomenal a job to make sure every detail is taken care of as he has. Switching to Nate was one of the best decisions we've ever made. He's always quick to answer questions and works tirelessly to make sure we get everything we want from our trips. Plus, he's just a genuinely great person who is wonderful to work with. Whether you're planning a trip to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, a Disney Cruise, or any other vacation, Nate is the guy you want putting it all together! Five stars across the board!
