What Is Universal Horror Unleashed?

Originally, announced in January 2023, Universal Horror Unleashed is a permanent horror attraction set to open at AREA15 in Las Vegas. This is Universal’s first-ever year-round horror experience, keeping the fear going long after Halloween Horror Nights ends.

This 20-acre expansion will include:

• Four haunted houses featuring iconic horror franchises
• Live entertainment in four immersive themed zones
• Horror-inspired food and drinks
• Seasonal events with fresh scares
• Exclusive merchandise you won’t find anywhere else

This attraction is designed for horror fans who want nonstop thrills, whether it’s spooky season or not.

The Haunted Houses

Universal confirmed four terrifying haunted house experiences:

• Universal Monsters – Expect classic Universal horror legends
• The Texas Chainsaw Massacre – Face Leatherface and his chainsaw
• Scarecrow: The Reaping – A horrifying take on a desolate farm
• Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer – A twisted take on the 2023 film

Each house will have movie-quality sets, intense scares, and unpredictable encounters.

How Will It Work?

According to Len Testa and Jim Hill of the Disney Dish, Universal Horror Unleashed will have a dual-purpose setup:

• Daytime: The venue will be available for private and corporate events
• Nighttime: It transforms into a full-fledged horror experience

One of the biggest questions is how guests will enter the haunted houses. A virtual queue system may be used, letting guests explore the shopping and dining areas instead of waiting in a long line. Universal has yet to confirm this, but it would be a game-changer for horror attractions.

The attraction is set to open in 2025, though Universal has not given an exact date. Being Las Vegas and all, if we were to bet it could be sometime around the spooky season. With its prime location in Las Vegas and endless ways to expand, this could become the horror fan’s ultimate destination.

Could not have wanted or expected more from Nate, our Distrips and More agent as we planned our 2025 Disney World trip. Nate was VERY responsive to emails and texts and more than willing to do whatever he could to guide us and answer our questions.
