A small but genuinely useful update has arrived in the My Disney Experience app. Disney World theme park reservations can now be made entirely within the MDE app — no website redirect, no re-entering your email and password. If you have ever been annoyed by getting kicked out to a browser mid-process just to make a park reservation, this one is for you.
Quick Summary
- The My Disney Experience app now lets you complete park reservations without being redirected to a website
- Previously, guests were sent to a browser where they had to re-enter their MDE email and password
- The in-app reservation flow applies to both Guests with Tickets or Annual Passes, and Guests with hotel reservations linked in MDE
- The reservation calendar, park selection, and confirmation pages all work the same as before — just without the redirect
- Date-based tickets still do not require a theme park reservation
- If your resort reservation is linked in MDE, it will appear automatically in the reservation flow
What Changed in the My Disney Experience App
The starting steps for making a park reservation are the same as always. You tap the “+” button at the bottom of the MDE app, select “Make or Modify Park Reservation,” and then choose “Reserve” next to the applicable option — either Guests with Tickets or Annual Passes, or Guests with Tickets or Annual Passes and a Hotel Reservation.
Here is where it gets better: the process for Guests with Tickets or Annual Passes no longer kicks you out to a website. In the past, that redirect meant re-entering your MDE login credentials in a browser before you could proceed. Now, you go straight to the reservation page and continue as usual — entirely within the app.
How It Works With Hotel Reservations
The in-app experience also works smoothly if you have a resort reservation linked. When you tap “Reserve” and select the hotel reservation option, your linked resort reservations will appear in the app automatically. If your reservation is not yet linked, you can scroll to the bottom of the “Select Resort Reservation” page and follow the link to add it.
Once you have selected the resort reservation, the rest of the process looks familiar: the reservation calendar shows available dates, you pick your date, and the “Select a Park” page shows only parks with open reservations. The confirmation page is the same as it has always been.
Why This Matters for Your Disney World Trip
This is the kind of quality-of-life update that makes a real difference for guests who are managing multiple reservations. Making park reservations is something most Disney World guests do repeatedly — planning ahead for a multi-day trip means going through this process several times. Eliminating the website redirect removes friction each time.
It also matters for guests on the go. Trying to enter an email and password in a mobile browser mid-flow, especially on a spotty connection, is a minor pain that adds up. Keeping everything within the app is simply a better experience.
A Reminder About Ticket Types
One thing worth noting: date-based tickets do not require a theme park reservation at all. If you have date-based tickets, you can show up at whatever park is printed on your ticket without going through the reservation process. The park reservation system applies to guests with open-dated tickets, Annual Passes, and similar credentials.
This MDE update is a welcome improvement that makes the app work more like you would expect. Small changes like this add up to a smoother trip planning experience overall. Stay tuned to DisMornings for more updates as Disney continues to refine the My Disney Experience app.
