The Challenge medal opens like a locket. That’s the detail worth showing up for.
runDisney has released a first look at the 2026 Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend medals, and each design matches its race theme — from The Aristocats to Mary Poppins.
Here’s every medal in the lineup.
Quick Summary
- The 5K medal features Marie, Toulouse, and Berlioz
- The 10K medal is shaped like a Mexican marigold with Los Tres Caballeros
- The Half Marathon medal has an umbrella topper and Mary Poppins over London
- The Challenge medal opens like a locket, centered on Grumpy
- Challenge runners take home three medals total
- The weekend runs October 23-25 at Walt Disney World
5K Medal — The Aristocats
The 5K medal features Marie, Toulouse, and Berlioz on a scalloped plaque with an Eiffel Tower silhouette at the top.
The ribbon is purple with Marie and “2026 Wine & Dine 5K” spelled out in pink and blue lettering.
Macarons appear at the base of the medal, tying in the France pavilion food theme.
The Food Tie-In Is the Whole Concept
Worth flagging early, because it shapes every medal in this set.
Wine & Dine is runDisney’s food-themed weekend, timed to overlap with the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. The Half Marathon course runs through World Showcase, and the post-race party is held at EPCOT.
So each medal pairs a character with a country pavilion and a signature food. Aristocats plus France plus macarons. It’s a tighter design brief than most runDisney sets, and it gives the collection a coherence that character-only medals don’t have.
10K Medal — Los Tres Caballeros
The 10K medal takes a flower shape inspired by Mexican marigolds.
Panchito takes center stage in mid-dance, flanked by Donald Duck and José Carioca. A pyramid sits at the top of the medal, and flowers fill the corners.
The ribbon is magenta with “Wine & Dine 10K” in bold white and blue text.
The marigold shape is the strongest design idea in the set. Marigolds — cempasúchil — are the flower of Día de los Muertos, and using the bloom as the medal’s silhouette rather than just printing flowers on a circle is a genuine structural choice.
It also lands seasonally. An October race with a marigold medal sits right against Día de los Muertos, which falls November 1-2.
Half Marathon Medal — Mary Poppins
This medal has an umbrella-shaped topper with the runDisney logo, connected to a scalloped medallion below.
Three dancing penguins from “Jolly Holiday” appear on the ribbon.
The medal face shows Mary Poppins’ silhouette against a London skyline, with “Wine & Dine Half Marathon 2026” across the center.
The umbrella topper is a smart bit of engineering. runDisney medals typically hang from a straight bar. Shaping that connector into an umbrella turns a functional part into part of the design — the same trick the Challenge medal pulls with its hinge.
Penguins on the ribbon is the detail runners will actually notice, since the ribbon is what you see while wearing it.
Challenge Medal — Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
This is the standout.
The Challenge medal centers on Grumpy and opens like a locket.
- One side shows Snow White’s silhouette with jewels falling around her, set against a German village backdrop
- The other side reads “Finisher 19.3 Miles” with Grumpy front and center
- A cuckoo clock and pretzel detail appear near the hinge
- The ribbon reads “2026 Two Course Challenge, 19.3 Miles” with Grumpy marching along it
Why a Hinged Medal Is a Real Escalation
Opening medals are rare and expensive. Most runDisney hardware is a single cast piece with enamel fill. A hinged locket requires two faces, a working mechanism, and tolerances that survive being worn and knocked around.
Choosing Grumpy for the Challenge is also the correct joke. The Two Course Challenge means running the 10K on Saturday and the Half Marathon on Sunday — 19.3 miles across two days. Grumpy is exactly the face for mile 18.
The German village, cuckoo clock, and pretzel tie it to EPCOT’s Germany pavilion, keeping the country-and-food formula intact.
What Challenge Runners Actually Get
Each finisher medal pairs with its individual race medal.
Challenge runners take home three medals total:
- The 10K medal
- The Half Marathon medal
- The Two Course Challenge medal
That’s worth stating plainly because runDisney’s challenge structures confuse first-timers. You don’t trade your race medals for the challenge medal — you keep all three.
The Weekend
The 2026 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend runs October 23-25 at Walt Disney World.
That places it squarely inside the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, which runs August 27 through November 21 — so runners get the festival marketplaces on either side of race day.
Late October is also the most comfortable racing weather Walt Disney World offers. Marathon Weekend in January is cooler but unpredictable; Wine & Dine lands after the worst of the summer humidity breaks.
The Bottom Line
runDisney’s 2026 Wine & Dine medals pair characters with EPCOT country pavilions and their signature foods: Aristocats and macarons for France, Los Tres Caballeros on a marigold for Mexico, Mary Poppins over London, and Snow White with a cuckoo clock and pretzel for Germany.
The Challenge medal opens like a locket with Grumpy on one face and Snow White on the other — easily the most ambitious piece in the set.
The weekend runs October 23-25, inside the Food & Wine Festival window.
