A Disney World AI search feature appeared briefly on DisneyWorld.com this week before being pulled — and it gave guests an unplanned first look at how the resort may handle trip planning questions in the near future. The feature has since been removed, but screenshots captured during the brief window show what’s being tested. Here’s what it looked like and what Disney has confirmed is coming to both the website and the My Disney Experience app.
Quick Summary
- An AI search feature labeled “AI Overview” appeared briefly on DisneyWorld.com before being removed
- It carried a “Cast Preview” tag — meaning it wasn’t intended for public view yet
- The AI placed answers above standard search results on the site
- Disney confirmed new My Disney Experience app and website updates are coming in the months ahead
- No timeline has been confirmed for when the AI feature will officially launch for guests
What the Disney World AI Search Feature Looked Like
The feature appeared at the top of search results on DisneyWorld.com, above the standard listings — exactly where Google places its AI Overviews. When triggered, it displayed an AI-generated response before showing traditional results below.
In screenshots captured before the feature was removed, the AI responded to a search query with: “I’m still learning and don’t have information on that topic right now, but I can help with most food and beverage questions.” A tooltip in one screenshot carried a disclaimer: “AI can make mistakes. Please verify important details with a Cast Member.”
The feature was labeled “Cast Preview” — a tag used internally at Disney for features being tested by cast members before public release. The fact that it was visible on the public-facing site at all suggests it surfaced early by accident rather than through a deliberate limited rollout.
Part of a Bigger Trip Planning Overhaul
The Disney World AI search feature fits into a broader push by the resort to make trip planning simpler. Disney has acknowledged that the planning complexity around Walt Disney World — booking windows, dining reservations, Lightning Lane, park passes — has been a friction point for guests. Recent changes to the website and My Disney Experience app have already moved the needle on guest satisfaction.
More is coming. Here’s what Disney has confirmed is on the way:
My Disney Experience App Updates
- Spanish language translations — the app will be available in Spanish
- Redesigned homepage — bringing trip details, travel party information, and planning steps together in one place
- New checklist feature — showing guests exactly what still needs to be done before arrival
- Simpler process for linking family and friends
- Improved search
DisneyWorld.com Updates
The website is getting a new vacation planning experience designed to make it easier to compare options, check rates across different travel dates, and find a visit that fits your budget and schedule. The AI Overview feature is expected to be part of this update when it launches in its final form.
What This Means for Trip Planning
If the AI search feature works the way it appears to be designed, guests could get direct answers to planning questions on DisneyWorld.com without having to dig through multiple pages — similar to how AI overviews work on Google. The disclaimer about verifying details with a Cast Member is the right call for a system that’s still being trained on Disney-specific information.
The broader app and website updates are the more immediately significant news. A redesigned MDE homepage with a pre-arrival checklist and better family linking would be a meaningful improvement for first-time visitors who find the current app overwhelming. No confirmed timeline yet, but Disney has said these changes are coming in the months ahead. Keep an eye on the app for updates.
