Disney Cruise Packing List

Hey Disney Vacationers! The first thing everyone looks for when getting ready for a Disney Cruise is a Disney Cruise packing list. After all, it is a vacation like no other! Below is our go-to Disney Cruise packing list. Feel free to view the list online or download the file for easy printing. You can also build your own custom Disney Cruise packing list with my packing list builder below.

Start With the Right Cruise Packing Mindset

A Disney Cruise is very different from a Disney World vacation. You’re unpacking once, your “hotel” travels with you, and Disney handles more than you think. You don’t need to overpack — but you do need to pack smart. Think versatility, comfort, and ship-specific essentials rather than stuffing your suitcase “just in case.”

If you plan ahead, you’ll spend more time enjoying the ship and less time wishing you brought one more thing.

Clothing: Cruise Smart, Not Closet Heavy

Disney Cruise Line dress codes are relaxed, but you’ll want options for different parts of the ship.

Daytime Onboard & Port Days

  • Lightweight, breathable clothes
  • Swimsuit cover-ups
  • Athletic shorts or casual dresses
  • Comfortable walking shoes or sandals
  • Water shoes (great for Castaway Cay and port excursions)
  • Hat and sunglasses

Evening & Dining Attire

  • Casual outfits for rotational dining
  • One dressy-casual outfit (especially for adult dining like Palo or Enchanté)
  • Optional formalwear for Formal Night (totally optional, never required)
  • Light sweater or cardigan (dining rooms and theaters can run cool)

Pro Tip

Pack outfits that can work multiple ways. A sundress that works at dinner can also work on deck with sandals the next morning.

Swim & Sun Essentials (You’ll Use These Daily)

This is where cruise packing differs most from the parks.

  • 2–3 swimsuits per person (they take time to dry)
  • Rash guard or UV shirt
  • Reef-safe sunscreen
  • After-sun lotion or aloe
  • Goggles for kids
  • Flip flops or deck shoes
  • Wet/dry bag for port days

Day Bag Must-Haves (Ship + Port)

You’ll want a lightweight bag for excursions, Castaway Cay, and boarding day.

Here’s what’s actually useful:

  • Photo ID and cruise card
  • Sunscreen and lip balm with SPF
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Portable phone charger
  • Sunglasses
  • Motion sickness remedies
  • Snacks for excursions (if allowed)
  • Lanyard or card holder

Tech & Travel Gear That Makes Cruising Easier

Cruise cabins are efficient, not spacious. These items help you stay organized:

  • Magnetic hooks (cruise cabin walls are metal)
  • Power strip without surge protection
  • Packing cubes
  • Ziploc bags (wet swimsuits, sunscreen leaks)
  • Small nightlight (especially with kids)
  • Travel laundry detergent or stain remover

What Disney Cruise Line Provides (So You Don’t Overpack)

This section matters — and most packing lists skip it.

Disney Cruise Line cabins already include:

  • Hair dryer
  • Shampoo and body wash
  • Beach towels (onboard, Port Adventures, and Castaway Cay)
  • Life jackets for kids
  • Basic toiletries

Skip packing duplicates unless you’re picky about brands.

Packing for Kids on a Disney Cruise

Cruising with kids is easier than the parks — but a few items help.

  • Swim diapers (if needed)
  • Character autograph book and pen
  • Small backpack for kids
  • Glow sticks or light-up toys (great for deck parties)
  • Favorite bedtime comfort item
  • Refillable water bottle

Adults-Only Disney Cruise Packing Tips

If this is an adults-only sailing or you plan to enjoy adult spaces, pack with intention.

  • Dressy outfit for Palo, Remy, or Enchanté
  • Refillable insulated wine tumbler
  • Travel-size perfume or cologne
  • Flip flops for the adult-only pool
  • Small clutch or sling bag for evenings
  • Motion sickness meds (even calm seas can surprise you)

Cruise Day Essentials (Carry-On Bag)

You won’t get checked luggage right away, so pack these in your carry-on:

  • Swimsuit and cover-up
  • Medications
  • Phone charger
  • Sunglasses
  • Important documents
  • Change of clothes for kids

This lets you start vacation mode immediately.

Special Add-Ons Based on Your Itinerary

Caribbean & Bahamas

  • Extra sunscreen
  • Cooling towel
  • Electrolyte drink mix

Alaska Cruises

  • Waterproof jacket
  • Binoculars
  • Gloves and hat
  • Layers

Holiday Sailings

  • Festive outfits or pajamas
  • Small magnetic décor for cabin doors
  • Reusable shopping bags

The Cruise Packing Strategy That Actually Works

Here’s how I pack for a Disney Cruise:

  • Main suitcase: clothes, shoes, swimwear
  • Carry-on: first-day essentials
  • Day bag: port and ship essentials
  • Cabin setup: magnetic hooks + cubes = sanity

Leave a little room for souvenirs — Disney Cruise Line merchandise has a way of following you home.

How to Use the DisMornings Packing List Builder

Here’s how to turn this tool into your own personal packing assistant in just a few clicks.

1. Choose Where You’re Going

At the top of the tool, you’ll see a dropdown that says “Where are you going?”

Pick your trip:

  • Disney World
  • Disney Cruise
  • Universal Orlando
  • Disneyland

Once you choose your destination, the tool will automatically load packing ideas that make sense for that kind of trip.

2. Check the Items You Want to Pack

After you pick your destination, you’ll see your list broken into easy categories like clothing, park essentials, tech, extras, and more.

  • Read through each category.
  • Check the boxes next to anything you want on your custom packing list.
  • Skip anything that doesn’t apply to your family or your style of travel.

You’re not locked into our suggestions – this is just a smart starting point.

3. Add Your Own Notes (Optional)

Under the packing categories, you’ll see an “Add Your Notes (optional)” box.

Use this space for anything you don’t want to forget, like:

  • Flight times
  • Grocery delivery notes
  • “Don’t forget kiddo’s comfort item”
  • Room requests or special reminders

Whatever you type here will be included right under your packing table in the email we send you.

4. Tell Us Where to Send Your List

In the “Email me my Packing List” section at the bottom:

  1. Enter your First Name
  2. Enter your Last Name
  3. Enter your Email Address

Then click the “Email My Packing List” button.
