If you’re a runDisney fan like me, you already know summer means one thing—the runDisney Virtual Series. And for 2025, runDisney is going big. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Virtual Series, and to celebrate, they’re honoring some of the most iconic Disney Park attractions from June 1 through August 31, 2025. Whether you’re new to runDisney or you’ve been collecting medals since 2015, here’s everything you need to know about the 2025 runDisney Virtual Series theme — and why this summer’s race is shaping up to be one of the most exciting yet.

What Is the 2025 runDisney Virtual Series?

The 2025 runDisney Virtual Series is a set of three 5K virtual races and one Virtual Challenge that you can complete anywhere—on your treadmill, your favorite trail, or even while walking your dog around the neighborhood.

It’s perfect for:

  • First-timers curious about runDisney
  • Families looking to get active together
  • Runners who love Disney Park attractions
  • Fans who want cool medals without the travel

This year’s theme? Disney Park attractions. It’s a tribute to the rides, shows, and moments that make Disney Parks unforgettable—and a way to bring that magic to your local streets.

When Is the 2025 runDisney Virtual Series?

🗓️ Dates: June 1 – August 31, 2025

You can sign up for one, two, or all three 5K races—and if you complete all three, you’ll unlock the Virtual Challenge medal.

2025 runDisney Virtual Series Theme Breakdown

This year, each 5K is themed to a classic Disney attraction. Here’s a closer look at each race and what to expect:

Virtual 5K: Pirates of the Caribbean

Theme: Pirates of the Caribbean
Distance: 3.1 miles

“Yo ho, yo ho! A pirate’s life for you.” This race brings swashbuckling fun to your streets. Whether you jog, walk, or run, you’ll be channeling the spirit of one of Disney’s most legendary attractions.

If you love Jack Sparrow, cannon blasts, and salty sea tales, this one’s for you.

Virtual 5K: Jungle Cruise

Theme: Jungle Cruise
Distance: 3.1 miles

Set sail on your own pun-filled journey through 3.1 miles of high adventure. Based on the original Jungle Cruise attraction, this race gives nods to skippers, hippos, and those famous backside-of-water jokes.

Expect an expedition full of laughs and sweat.

Virtual 5K: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Theme: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Distance: 3.1 miles

“The wildest race in the wilderness” is coming to your neighborhood. This 5K brings the spirit of the rugged, runaway mine train straight to your sneakers.

Whether you’re running uphill or coasting downhill, this race is all about grit, speed, and a little dust.

Virtual Challenge: Happily Ever After

Theme: Happily Ever After (Magic Kingdom fireworks show)
Distance: 9.3 miles total (3 x 5Ks)

This is the grand finale. Complete all three 5Ks and you’ll earn the Challenge medal—themed to “Happily Ever After,” the nighttime fireworks show at Magic Kingdom.

It’s the perfect way to cap off a summer of running and Disney magic.
