If you’re running in January, you finally know what’s waiting at the finish line. runDisney just revealed the 2027 Walt Disney World Marathon medals, and Donald Duck shows up on every single one.
There’s a good reason for that. 2027 marks the 30th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Half Marathon, and Donald was the race’s original mascot when it launched three decades ago. So he’s the thread tying together all six medals, with his Disney pals each taking the lead on their own race.
Marathon Weekend runs January 6 to 10, 2027, and it’s already sold out. That means these medals are going to runners who are already registered. If that’s you, here’s a race-by-race look at everything you’ll earn, plus a few tips for the weekend.
Quick Summary

The 2027 Walt Disney World Marathon Medals, Race by Race
5K: Pluto
The 5K medal is a character-shaped shield in blue and gray. Pluto is the star, and a spinning Donald Duck medallion sits inset on the front. It hangs from a light blue ribbon with 2027 branding.
The spinning medallion is a fun touch for a 5K. It’s the kind of detail kids love, which makes this a great medal for families running together.
10K: Chip ‘n’ Dale
The 10K goes bold with pink and magenta. Chip ‘n’ Dale appear on a layered design framed by a cutout silver border, and a spinning Donald inset keeps him in the mix.
Half Marathon: Donald and Daisy (30th Anniversary)
This is the medal of the weekend. It’s shaped like the number 30, with Mickey ears on top, to mark three decades of the race.
It’s also a hinged locket. Open it up and you get two faces: Daisy Duck on one side and Donald Duck on the other. The blue and gold ribbon reads “30 Years.”
If you only run one race this weekend, this is the one I’d pick. Anniversary medals tend to be the ones runners hang on to and talk about for years.
Marathon: Mickey and Minnie
Full marathoners earn a red shield medal. Mickey, Minnie, and Donald all appear against bold orange “26.2 Miles” lettering. The red ribbon carries the Walt Disney World Marathon name and year.
Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge: 39.3 Miles
Goofy’s Challenge means running the Half Marathon and the full Marathon. Its medal is a multi-panel expandable design in teal and navy.
Spread it out and you get the challenge branding on one side, Donald and Goofy running alongside the 39.3-mile distance in the center, and Goofy on his own on the reverse. The orange and teal ribbon ties it all together.

The challenge medal also leans into the anniversary theme, with Donald running right alongside Goofy.
Dopey Challenge: 48.6 Miles
The Dopey Challenge covers all four races: the 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and Marathon. Its medal is a hinged octagonal locket in purple and green.
The front shows Dopey leaping against a glittery violet background. Open it and one panel shows the 48.6-mile distance, while the other features Dopey juggling pretzels. The purple and teal ribbon rounds it out.
Remember, challenge runners earn the individual race medals too. Finish the Dopey Challenge and you go home with five medals total.
Tips for 2027 Marathon Weekend
Since the event is sold out, these tips are for runners already registered.
- Plan for early mornings. runDisney races start very early. Book transportation or set your alarms with plenty of buffer.
- Budget your park days. If you’re doing Goofy or Dopey, don’t plan a heavy park day between races. Your legs will thank you.
- Protect your medals. Hinged lockets and expandable panels are more delicate than flat medals. Pack a padded bag or a hard case for the trip home.
- Pack for a Florida January. Mornings can be cold, then warm up quickly. Bring throwaway layers for the start corrals.
- Book dining early. Marathon Weekend brings big crowds of runners and supporters. A celebratory post-race meal is worth reserving now.
Didn’t Get a Bib?
Marathon Weekend is sold out, so you can’t register directly now. If you still want to run, watch for official charity programs, which sometimes offer entries for runners who fundraise. And if you’re thinking about 2028, keep an eye on runDisney announcements so you’re ready the moment registration opens.
The Bottom Line
The 2027 Walt Disney World Marathon medals put Donald Duck on all six designs to celebrate the Half Marathon’s 30th anniversary. The highlight is the “30”-shaped Half Marathon locket with Donald and Daisy, but the Dopey Challenge locket and the expandable Goofy medal are close behind. Marathon Weekend runs January 6 to 10, 2027, and it’s sold out, so these medals are going to runners who are already in. If that’s you, start training, plan your park days carefully, and keep checking DisMornings for more Walt Disney World event news.
