Hey Disney Vacationers! Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new Notice of Commencement for work at the Tree of Life Theater in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The permit lists InCryo Systems (InCryo LLC) as the contractor, with the project described as “modify infrastructure.” So, what does that mean? Let’s break down this Zootopia Better Zoogether Fog Effect Permit!
Who Is InCryo Systems?
InCryo LLC has been in the cryogenic industry for decades, working with clients across aerospace, medical, and theme park sectors. Their expertise ranges from repairing cryogenic tanks and pumping equipment to installing full bulk tank and vacuum piping systems. They’re also part of The Cryo Group, which has over 30 years of experience in cryogenic technology. If a company like this is involved, it likely means Disney is working with high-end cooling and fog effect systems.
What This Means for Zootopia: Better Zoogether!
The permit most likely relates to the cryogenic fog system that was previously used in It’s Tough to be a Bug! This system created dense fog effects in key moments of the show, especially during the finale scenes with black widow spiders and hornets. With It’s Tough to be a Bug! set to close permanently on March 17, 2025, this work is likely addressing one of two things:
- Decommissioning the old fog system – Removing or shutting down the existing fog effects that are no longer needed.
- Modifying it for Zootopia Better Zoogether! – Repurposing the fog effects for the upcoming attraction.
If Disney chooses to keep and repurpose the system, it could be a major part of the show’s transition effects. One of the major districts in Zootopia is Tundratown, a district designed for polar mammals. A fog effect could be used to simulate a cold environment or even serve as a transition between biomes inside the theater. Imagine stepping into the icy world of Tundratown with swirling fog surrounding you—it could be an incredibly immersive effect.
What’s Next?
Zootopia Better Zoogether! is scheduled to debut in winter 2025 and will bring guests into the different districts of Zootopia inside the Tree of Life Theater. With Imagineering working on fog effects, we might see some exciting atmospheric elements added to the experience. Whether it’s for a seamless transition into Tundratown or another creative use, this permit suggests that Disney is taking every detail seriously.
