Glob Theater at Monstropolis Gets New Electrical Permit — What We Know So Far

Glob Theater at Monstropolis Gets New Electrical Permit

The Glob Theater is getting closer. Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new Notice of Commencement for electrical work inside the upcoming show venue being built in the former MuppetVision 3D theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The permit names Elite A/V Systems as the contractor — a company with a long track record on WDI projects — and it adds to a growing list of specialized vendors now working simultaneously on the Glob Theater Monstropolis Hollywood Studios buildout.

Quick Summary

  • New Notice of Commencement filed for Glob Theater electrical work by Elite A/V Systems
  • Elite A/V Systems handles electrical infrastructure for Disney entertainment, show control, and AV systems
  • Multiple contractors now active: Jon Richards (fabrication), Solotech (AV), Adirondack Studios, Icarus Exhibits, InterAmerica Stage
  • Exterior scaffolding is up on the former MuppetVision 3D building; facade work is active
  • Disney has not announced what show will replace MuppetVision 3D
  • D23 Expo is weeks away — a Monstropolis announcement seems likely

What the New Permit Tells Us

Elite A/V Systems is one of the most frequently appearing contractors on Walt Disney Imagineering permits at Walt Disney World. They handle the electrical backbone for entertainment systems — show control, audio-visual installations, lighting infrastructure. When they show up on a permit, it means a project is moving into its technical buildout phase: the physical structure is sufficiently complete to start wiring in the systems that will actually run the show.

Their presence here is a reliable sign that the Glob Theater’s interior construction has advanced past early groundwork. Electrical contractors need walls, conduit paths, and structural context before they can do their work. This filing suggests that context now exists inside the building.

The Full Contractor Roster So Far

This new permit adds Elite A/V Systems to an already substantial contractor list for the Glob Theater. Here’s who’s been confirmed via prior permit filings:

Each of these companies brings a different specialty. Custom fabrication, scenic work, set elements, AV systems, and electrical infrastructure — together they paint a picture of a fully active, multi-front buildout. The Glob Theater isn’t in the planning phase anymore. It’s being built right now, on multiple tracks simultaneously.

What’s Happening on the Outside

It’s not just the interior. Scaffolding is now installed across the facade of the former MuppetVision 3D building, with crews actively working on what will become the Glob Theater’s street-facing presence within Monstropolis. The exterior transformation is one of the most visible signs of progress for guests who have walked past the construction walls in Muppets Courtyard — the area is actively being converted into Monstropolis, and the Glob Theater building is part of that visual overhaul.

What Show Will Be Inside the Glob Theater?

Here’s what Disney hasn’t told us yet: what’s actually going to happen inside the Glob Theater. The venue was MuppetVision 3D for decades, and MuppetVision was a beloved show with a passionate fanbase. Disney hasn’t announced what replaces it — no title, no format, no IP confirmation beyond the Monsters, Inc. theming of the surrounding land.

D23 Expo is just weeks away, and that changes the calculation. D23 has historically been the venue where Walt Disney Imagineering delivers major attraction and land updates. A Monstropolis announcement — covering both the Glob Theater show and potentially more details on the Monsters, Inc. flying door coaster — seems very likely to be on the agenda. If Disney has something to show, D23 is where they’ll show it.

Interior work on the Glob Theater has been underway since permits were first filed in December 2025. That’s several months of active construction — enough time for significant progress on the show systems that will power whatever experience is coming. We’ll be watching D23 closely. Stay tuned for updates on Monstropolis and the Glob Theater as they arrive.

I’m no stranger to Disney planning, as a Disneyland magic key holder and DVC member. I’m the person people ask for trip planning advice. But I had never been on a Disney cruise, and had heard great about Nate and decided to reach out. I’m so glad I did because we could not have been happier with our experience. His tips and insights were incredibly helpful, and he was incredibly responsive any time we had a question. Who do the Disney experts turn to when they need help? Nate, that’s who. We’ll definitely be using him again.

Could not have wanted or expected more from Nate, our Distrips and More agent as we planned our 2025 Disney World trip. Nate was VERY responsive to emails and texts and more than willing to do whatever he could to guide us and answer our questions. On several occasions I emailed him over the weekend not expecting a response until Monday but each time he responded before the weekend was over. He even participated in a Zoom session with our group of five seniors as we planned our trip. He also helped us at the 11th hour when we added a family member to our travel group less than a month before our trip. Without a doubt, I will reach out to Nate when I'm ready to plan my next trip to Disney World!

We are so thankful we used Nate to plan not only our first Disney trip, but also our second. He made the process so easy for us, especially for us since it was our first time going. There was a lot to consider and many decisions to make, such as where to stay, when to go, and what to experience. Nate really helped us narrow down what we wanted to do overall, but he didn’t stop there. He provided detailed guides to help us navigate the airport and find our transportation to the resort, as well as a guide to explore the resorts and make sure we saw the best Christmas decorations. One of the many amazing things he also did was set up our dinner reservations for us. This saved us so much stress and allowed us to get some of our top choices. From the moment we landed in Orlando to the moment we headed back home, he made sure everything went smoothly. You truly can’t go wrong with going to him for your next trip.

Nathan has been an amazing trip planner for me! So helpful and responsive. I am a very type A person -- so someone who is even more on top of their game than me -- is so so appreciated! Nathan has booked 3 trips for me (1 completed 2 pending) and it was perfection. Thanks again!

Nate has helped us with our vacation planning for the last couple of years and we couldn't be happier with his service and expertise. We've used other travel agents in the past and none of them have done as phenomenal a job to make sure every detail is taken care of as he has. Switching to Nate was one of the best decisions we've ever made. He's always quick to answer questions and works tirelessly to make sure we get everything we want from our trips. Plus, he's just a genuinely great person who is wonderful to work with. Whether you're planning a trip to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, a Disney Cruise, or any other vacation, Nate is the guy you want putting it all together! Five stars across the board!
