We’re getting closer to the opening of the brand-new Disney Vacation Club Lounge coming to Magic Kingdom this summer, and we just got our first look at a key design element—the Magic Kingdom DVC Lounge mural. Located in Frontierland, the new lounge is called McKim’s Mile House and takes over the space that once housed the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade.

Disney Vacation Club (DVC) shared an image of the McKim’s Mile House mural on social media, teasing that the lounge is “headin’ your way real soon!” While there’s no exact opening date yet, we do know that it’s set to open this summer.
What to Expect from McKim’s Mile House
McKim’s Mile House is exclusive to select Disney Vacation Club Members, offering a private retreat in the middle of Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland. Here’s how Disney describes it:
“Nestled in the heart of Frontierland in Magic Kingdom park, Disney Vacation Club McKim’s Mile House – A Member Lounge offers a cozy and convenient retreat for Members to share stories and recharge during their day of fun. Experience the rustic charm of a space inspired by boarding houses that accommodated tired train travelers during the Gold Rush days of the American West.” – Disney Vacation Club
The lounge embraces Frontierland’s Old West theme, taking inspiration from historic boarding houses that provided rest stops for weary travelers during the Gold Rush era.
The Meaning Behind the “McKim” Name
McKim’s Mile House is a tribute to Disney Legend Sam McKim. Before joining Walt Disney Imagineering, McKim was an actor in Western films. He later became a key artist for Disney, creating early concept art for Disneyland and helping shape Frontierland’s classic look. Naming the Magic Kingdom DVC Lounge after him is a fitting way to honor his contributions to Disney history.
Magic Kingdom’s Newest DVC Lounge Joins an Exclusive List
Once it opens, McKim’s Mile House will be the third DVC Lounge at Walt Disney World, joining:
• EPCOT DVC Lounge – Located inside the Imagination! Pavilion
• Top of the World Lounge – Atop Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Each DVC Lounge gives members a dedicated space to relax, charge devices, and enjoy complimentary refreshments. McKim’s Mile House brings this experience to Magic Kingdom for the first time.
