Hey Disney Vacationers! bBuckle up. Bob Iger just dropped a major update, and it’s exactly what we’ve been waiting to hear. The Disney Parks expansions? They’re happening. No more speculation, no more wondering if the economy would slow things down—everything is full steam ahead.
During The Walt Disney Company’s 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, Iger gave a big-picture update on all the projects currently in the works at Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, and Disneyland Paris. He made it clear: Disney is investing heavily in the parks, and there’s more happening now than ever before.
Biggest Theme Park Expansions in Disney History
Iger spoke from Walt Disney Imagineering headquarters in California, setting the tone for what’s coming. His message? Disney is all in.
“Right now, we have more projects underway around the world than at any time in our history.”
That’s a massive statement, and it’s backed up by the lineup of new experiences on the way.

What’s Coming to Walt Disney World?
Walt Disney World is about to get bigger in ways we haven’t seen in decades. Here’s what’s confirmed:
- Magic Kingdom Expansion: The park’s largest expansion to date will bring two new lands—one themed to Cars and another focused on Disney Villains.
- Hollywood Studios: A Monsters Inc.-themed land is in development, adding another beloved Pixar franchise to the park.
- Animal Kingdom: The Tropical Americas expansion is moving forward, with new experiences based on Encanto and Indiana Jones.
Rumors had been swirling that Villains Land could be on the chopping block due to economic concerns, but Iger’s comments suggest that’s not the case. While nothing is ever 100% guaranteed (Pop Century’s abandoned second half, which later became Art of Animation, is proof of that), these projects seem locked in.

Disneyland Resort: Expanding the Adventure
Over on the West Coast, Disneyland Resort is also seeing major growth:
- Avengers Campus Expansion: Disney California Adventure’s superhero-themed land will double in size, adding two new attractions.
- New Coco Ride: A ride-through experience based on Coco is officially in the works.
- Avatar Comes to California: Disneyland Resort will introduce an Avatar-themed area, expanding the world of Pandora beyond Walt Disney World.
Disneyland Paris: The First Lion King Ride Ever
Across the pond, Disneyland Paris is getting a historic addition:
- Pride Rock-Themed Expansion: The park will introduce the first-ever Lion King ride, featuring a Simba-focused water attraction.
- New Theming & Enhancements: Paris continues to evolve with expanded areas and immersive storytelling.
Disney Cruise Line: More Ships, More Adventures
It’s not just the theme parks getting a boost—Disney Cruise Line is expanding, too.
- Disney Treasure Debuts in 2024
- Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure Set to Launch in 2025
Iger confirmed that the cruise line’s expansion is about doubling capacity, meaning more sailings, more destinations, and more guests getting the chance to experience Disney magic at sea.
“Disney Cruise Line is also growing, allowing us to double our capacity to reach millions more people around the world.”
Economic Impact & Job Creation
Beyond the rides and attractions, these expansions mean big things for jobs and local economies. Iger highlighted that these projects will create thousands of jobs in Florida and California, reinforcing Disney’s role in shaping the communities where it operates.
“We’re proud of the positive economic impact these projects will have in the communities in which we operate, including creating thousands of new jobs in Florida and California.”
Final Thoughts: This is Happening
For anyone worried that economic conditions might slow things down—this update should put those fears to rest. Disney is moving forward at full speed, and these expansions are coming. While history has shown that projects can shift (or, in rare cases, get canceled), the message from Iger is clear: Disney Parks are growing like never before.
If you’re a fan of Disney Parks, now is the time to get excited. The future of Disney’s theme parks is looking bigger and better than ever, and it’s all happening sooner than you think.
