Liberty Square is getting its lounge back. Diamond Horseshoe reservations are open now on My Disney Experience, and the venue itself reopens October 4 with an entirely new menu of small plates, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks.
If you tried to book at 8pm ET on September 29 when the window first opened, you already know how fast the early slots moved. If you have not looked yet, availability is still worth checking — and there is a second route in that a lot of people will overlook.
Here is what is opening, how to get a table, and the detail that matters if you had Thanksgiving plans here.
Quick Summary
- Reservations are open now through My Disney Experience
- The Diamond Horseshoe reopens October 4 in Liberty Square
- Walk-ups are still accepted if you do not book ahead
- The new menu is small plates, six cocktails, four non-alcoholic specialties, wine, and draft beer
- The venue closed in May to make way for Jessie’s Roundup during Cool Kids’ Summer
- The family-style Thanksgiving dinner has moved next door to Liberty Tree Tavern
Walk-Ups Are Still Accepted
Start here, because this is the part that gets buried.
Walk-ups are still welcome for guests without a booking. That is unusual enough at Magic Kingdom to be worth saying plainly — most table-service venues there run on reservations alone, and a walk-up policy at a brand-new lounge is a genuine opportunity.
It does not mean you will always get in. Opening week at a newly reopened venue in Liberty Square will be busy, and a lounge has limited seats.
But if the reservation system shows nothing for your dates, do not write it off. Stop by and ask.
What the New Menu Looks Like
The menu is built around shareable plates rather than full entrées. The headliners include Glazed Sticky Ribs with cowboy beans, Queso Fundido with Barbecue Burnt Ends, and a Charcuterie board with cured beef, candied bacon, and smoked pork.
On the drink side there are six new cocktails, including a Cactus Rose Margarita and a Coal’d Fashioned made with bourbon and cold brew coffee liqueur, plus four non-alcoholic specialty drinks, wine, and draft beer.

Why It Closed in the First Place
Some context, because the closure confused people at the time.
The Diamond Horseshoe closed for table service dining back in May to make way for Jessie’s Roundup during Cool Kids’ Summer. That was always a seasonal use of the space rather than a permanent change.
What is returning is not the old Diamond Horseshoe. It is a limited-time menu in a lounge format, which is a meaningful shift from the table-service operation that was there before.
Treat “limited-time” as real. Disney has used that language deliberately, and there is no stated end date. In general, this appears to be a test for Disney to see if adding another themed lounge to the park will be popular. Recently, they opened The Beak and Barrel, and needless to say, it has been an instant success. I would think, if the Diamond Horseshoe Lounge is popular, Disney will move it from being limited to a more permit option for the park.
The Thanksgiving Change You Need to Know
This is the detail most likely to disrupt an existing plan.
If you are a fan of the Diamond Horseshoe’s family-style Thanksgiving dinner, that menu has moved back to being available only at Liberty Tree Tavern. For many years, the Diamond Horseshoe did not offer Thanksgiving dinner, so this change is more of a return to the original restaurant design.
Same part of Liberty Square, different restaurant. If you were holding a Diamond Horseshoe booking for Thanksgiving, or planning to make one, redirect to Liberty Tree Tavern.
How to Book
Use the My Disney Experience app. That is where availability updates in real time.
A few practical notes:
Check repeatedly rather than once. New venues see heavy cancellation churn in the first weeks as people who grabbed opening-day slots adjust plans.
Target weekday afternoons. A lounge menu of small plates and cocktails is an afternoon-break venue more than a dinner destination, and the early-afternoon slots are the ones that stay open longest.
Have a backup time, not a backup restaurant. Flexibility on time gets you in here far more often than flexibility on day.
Is It Worth Booking
Honest take: it depends what you want from it.
Book it if you want a sit-down break in the middle of a Magic Kingdom day without committing to a full meal, or if the cocktail list appeals. Liberty Square is short on places to simply sit down with a drink.
Skip the reservation if your plans are loose. The walk-up policy makes this one of the few Magic Kingdom venues you can genuinely improvise.
Do not treat it as a meal. Small plates at $12 to $22 add up fast if you are trying to make dinner out of them.
The Bottom Line
Diamond Horseshoe reservations are live now, the venue reopens October 4, and walk-ups are accepted for anyone who does not book.
The new format is a small-plates lounge with six cocktails and four non-alcoholic specialties, running on a limited-time menu with no announced end date.
And if Thanksgiving at the Diamond Horseshoe was part of your plan, that dinner is at Liberty Tree Tavern this year. Move your booking before the good times there go too.
