One of Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s most underrated nighttime experiences is coming back. Tree of Life Awakenings returns to Disney’s Animal Kingdom starting Sunday, November 1, 2026, with projection shows running on select evenings during the first week of the month.
If you’ve only ever seen the Tree of Life during the day, this is your chance to see it come alive after dark. Here are the dates, times, and how to fit it into your evening.
Quick Summary
- Tree of Life Awakenings returns to Disney’s Animal Kingdom starting November 1, 2026.
- The show uses projection mapping, light, color, and music to bring the tree’s carvings to life after dark.
- November 1 and 7: 6:10 pm to 8:00 pm.
- November 2, 5, and 6: 6:10 pm to 7:00 pm.
- The show repeats throughout each evening, so you’ll have several chances to see it.
- More dates for the holiday season are expected once Disney updates the calendar.
What Is Tree of Life Awakenings?
Tree of Life Awakenings is a nighttime projection show on the Tree of Life, the 145-foot icon at the center of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Using projection mapping, the show brings the hundreds of animal carvings in the tree’s trunk to life with light, color, and music.
It’s not a fireworks-style spectacular. Each show is short and runs on a loop, so you can walk up, watch a few minutes, and move on, or settle in and watch a few cycles in a row. It’s a quieter, more magical kind of nighttime entertainment that fits Animal Kingdom’s style perfectly.
Why These Dates Matter
For most of the year, Animal Kingdom closes before it’s dark enough to run the show. That’s why Tree of Life Awakenings shows up only on select nights when park hours stretch past sunset.
November is one of the best times to catch it. By early November, sunset is earlier, and Animal Kingdom’s evening hours line up with darkness. If you’re visiting the first week of the month, it’s well worth planning an evening at the park.
November 2026 Showtimes
Here’s the schedule announced so far:
- Sunday, November 1: 6:10 pm – 8:00 pm
- Monday, November 2: 6:10 pm – 7:00 pm
- Thursday, November 5: 6:10 pm – 7:00 pm
- Friday, November 6: 6:10 pm – 7:00 pm
- Saturday, November 7: 6:10 pm – 8:00 pm
There are no shows listed for Tuesday, November 3, or Wednesday, November 4. If those are your Animal Kingdom days, try to shift your visit to one of the show nights.
The show repeats throughout each window, so you don’t need to be there exactly at 6:10 pm. On the shorter nights, though, you only have about 50 minutes, so don’t cut it too close.
More Dates Coming for the Holidays
These first-week shows are just the start. More dates for the holiday season are expected once Disney updates its calendar.
We already know that Animal Kingdom’s holiday season runs November 13, 2026, through January 6, 2027, and it includes Tree of Life Awakenings: Holiday Edition, with holiday projections running about every 10 minutes after dark until park close. Our guide to the holiday season at Disney’s Animal Kingdom 2026 has the full rundown, and don’t miss Santa’s Holiday Grove coming to Animal Kingdom.
Tips for Watching Tree of Life Awakenings
- Find a spot on Discovery Island. The paths around the Tree of Life give you a good view, and some spots let you see the projections up close on the carvings.
- Watch a few cycles. Each show is short, and different areas of the tree light up, so it’s worth staying for more than one loop.
- Pair it with dinner. Plan a dinner reservation or quick-service meal nearby, then walk over once it’s dark.
- Stay flexible with weather. Rain or wind can affect outdoor entertainment, so check the My Disney Experience app the day of your visit.
- Bring your camera. The tree looks completely different at night, and it’s one of the best photo opportunities in the park.
Make It an Evening at Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom isn’t usually an evening park, so this is a rare chance to see it after dark. Pair Tree of Life Awakenings with a nighttime ride on Avatar Flight of Passage or Na’vi River Journey when Pandora is glowing, or end your day with a walk through Discovery Island once the crowds thin out.
The Bottom Line
Tree of Life Awakenings returns to Disney’s Animal Kingdom on November 1, 2026, with shows from 6:10 pm on November 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7. It repeats throughout each evening, and more dates are expected for the holiday season. If you’re visiting the first week of November, plan to stay at Animal Kingdom past sunset, find a spot near the Tree of Life, and watch the carvings come alive.
