Holiday Season at Disney's Animal Kingdom 2026

Disney’s Animal Kingdom gets a full holiday makeover every year, and 2026 is no different. The holiday season runs November 13 through January 6, 2027 — all included with regular park admission. From life-sized arctic animal puppets roaming Discovery Island to the Tree of Life lighting up with holiday projections every 10 minutes after dark, Animal Kingdom’s holiday season 2026 is worth building into your Walt Disney World trip. Here’s everything confirmed for this year.

Quick Summary

  • Animal Kingdom holiday season: November 13, 2026 – January 6, 2027
  • All experiences included with regular park admission
  • Merry Menagerie returns to Discovery Island with life-sized arctic animal puppets
  • Rob Kaz original holiday artwork on display; artist on-site November 1–22
  • Tree of Life Awakenings: Holiday Edition runs every ~10 minutes after dark until park close
  • Mickey and Minnie in holiday outfits at Adventurers Outpost

Merry Menagerie on Discovery Island

The Merry Menagerie is the most visually distinctive thing Animal Kingdom does for the holidays. Life-sized, artisan-sculpted puppets of arctic animals roam Discovery Island throughout the season — penguins, polar bears, reindeer, and foxes brought to life by cast members in an incredibly detailed puppet performance.

This is one of those things that surprises guests who aren’t expecting it. You’re walking through the park and suddenly there’s an enormous, stunningly crafted polar bear puppet moving toward you. The photo opportunities here are outstanding — it’s one of the best holiday card photo spots at any Walt Disney World park.

Rob Kaz Holiday Artwork at Island Mercantile

Island Mercantile on Discovery Island is featuring original holiday artwork from artist Rob Kaz throughout the season. Kaz is a beloved Disney artist known for his warm, character-focused style, and his holiday work is always a highlight for collectors and fans.

What makes 2026 especially worth noting: Rob Kaz will be on-site greeting guests from November 1 through November 22. If you’re visiting Animal Kingdom in that early-November window, stop by Island Mercantile. Meeting the artist in person while the holiday art is on display is a genuinely special experience — and a good reason to visit on the earlier side of the season.

Tree of Life Awakenings: Holiday Edition

After sunset, the Tree of Life becomes the park’s centerpiece for holiday entertainment. The Awakenings projection show gets a holiday edition: animated wintry imagery, seasonal storytelling, and a holiday musical score projected across the textured surface of the 145-foot tree.

The show runs approximately every 10 minutes from sunset until park close, so you don’t need to plan your evening around a specific showtime. Just position yourself with a view of the Tree of Life as you’re exploring the park at night, and you’ll catch it naturally. The area in front of the tree on Discovery Island gives you the best viewing angle.

Mickey and Minnie Holiday Meet and Greet

At Adventurers Outpost, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse appear in holiday attire — decked out as globe-trotting explorers at their expedition headquarters. The theming fits Animal Kingdom’s adventurer aesthetic better than a standard holiday outfit would, and it’s a solid photo stop for families.

Standard meet-and-greet wait times apply. Arriving earlier in the day or later in the evening will generally give you shorter waits than midday. Check the My Disney Experience app for current wait times once you’re in the park.

Planning Tips for Animal Kingdom’s Holiday Season

  • Visit after dark for Tree of Life Awakenings. The holiday projection show only runs after sunset, so build in time to be in the park as the sun goes down.
  • Go in early November if you want Rob Kaz. The artist is only on-site November 1–22. After that, his work is still on display but you won’t get the in-person experience.
  • Look for the Merry Menagerie on Discovery Island. The puppets aren’t always in the same spot — wander around the island and keep your eyes open.
  • Check park hours. Animal Kingdom sometimes closes earlier than the other parks. Verify hours before your visit so you have enough time to see the nighttime content.

Animal Kingdom Holiday Season 2026: Final Thoughts

Disney’s Animal Kingdom holiday season 2026 is one of the most underrated parts of Walt Disney World at Christmas. The Merry Menagerie alone is worth a visit — the artistry involved in those life-sized puppet animals is unlike anything else at the resort. Add the Tree of Life holiday projections running every 10 minutes after dark and the Rob Kaz artist experience in November, and you have a park that justifies a dedicated holiday visit.

Everything covered here is included with regular Animal Kingdom admission from November 13 through January 6, 2027. No extra ticket required. If Animal Kingdom is already on your itinerary, time your visit for the evening to catch the Tree of Life holiday show before you leave.
