Set an alarm. Disney has given an exact time for when Diamond Horseshoe reservations open: 8pm ET on September 29, booked through My Disney Experience. The Liberty Square venue reopens October 4 with a completely new menu of small plates, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks.
Here’s the part most people will miss: walk-ups will still be welcome for guests without a reservation. So this isn’t a hard gate. But if you want a table on opening day or in that first busy stretch, you want to be ready when booking opens.
Below is the full reopening menu, the timing you need, and how I’d actually plan a Magic Kingdom day around it.
Quick Summary
- Reservations open: 8pm ET on September 29 via My Disney Experience
- Reopens: October 4
- Where: The Diamond Horseshoe, Liberty Square, Magic Kingdom
- Format: Small plates, cocktails, and non-alcoholic specialty drinks
- Walk-ups: Still welcome for guests without a reservation
- Why it was closed: Table service ended May 16, 2026 so the venue could host Jessie’s Roundup during Cool Kids’ Summer
When Diamond Horseshoe Reservations Open
Mark it: 8pm ET on Tuesday, September 29.
An 8pm drop is unusual. Most Walt Disney World dining inventory opens in the morning, so this one is easy to forget about during a park day. Have the My Disney Experience app open and logged in a few minutes early, with your party size and date already in mind.
If you miss it, you’re not shut out. Walk-ups are still accepted. You’re just trading certainty for a wait.
Why the Diamond Horseshoe Closed
Table service dining at the Diamond Horseshoe ended on May 16, 2026, so the venue could host Jessie’s Roundup, a Toy Story experience that ran during Cool Kids’ Summer from May 26 through September 8, 2026.
Disney said at the time that dining would resume in fall 2026. This new menu is what brings the restaurant back.

The New Diamond Horseshoe Menu
The reopening menu leans into frontier flavors, built around shareable small plates.
Small Plates
- Charcuterie — cured beef, candied bacon, smoked pork, green chile cheese, smoked cheddar, and pickles
- Glazed Sticky Ribs — with cowboy beans and jalapeño crisps
- Queso Fundido with Barbecue Burnt Ends — served with warm tortilla chips
- Sweet Golden Corn Fritters — with cilantro ranch dressing and red chili honey
- Chipotle Chicken Tostada — with queso fresco, lime crema, and pickled cactus salsa
- Mini Hot Dog Platter — wrapped in pastry and served with tortilla chips and queso
That’s a real shift from the old format. This is a grazing menu built for a group sharing a table, not a plated entrée experience.
Non-Alcoholic Drinks
There are four non-alcoholic specialty options, including:
- Orange Cream Soda — Fanta Orange, vanilla, and cream
- Enchanting Ember Lemonade — strawberry and hot honey
Cocktails
Six cocktails are on the list, ranging from:
- Cactus Rose Margarita — LALO Blanco Tequila and prickly pear
- Coal’d Fashioned — bourbon and cold brew coffee liqueur
- In Holiday Fashion — a seasonal cocktail
There’s also a wine list and three draft beers.
How to Plan Your Magic Kingdom Day Around It
A few things I’d do:
- Book the first week if you can. New menus at Magic Kingdom draw crowds early, and the reviews-driven rush follows
- Treat it as a late lunch or early dinner. Small plates work best when you’re not starving, and mid-afternoon is when Magic Kingdom gets hottest and most crowded
- Use it as an air-conditioned break between Liberty Square and Frontierland. You’re steps from the Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain
- Go in with a sharing plan. Three or four plates for two people is a reasonable target. Ordering one each will leave you hungry
- Keep walk-ups in your back pocket. If your dates don’t work out at booking, check in person during off-peak hours
Is This a Meal or a Snack Stop?
Honestly, it depends on your group. Small plates at Disney prices add up fast, and a family of four ordering to fullness will spend real money here. If you want a filling sit-down meal in that part of the park, Liberty Tree Tavern is still the better value play.
Where the Diamond Horseshoe wins is atmosphere and flexibility. Cocktails inside Magic Kingdom are still a relatively new thing, and a shareable menu in a historic saloon setting is a genuinely different experience.
What the Diamond Horseshoe Has Been Over the Years
The Diamond Horseshoe has been one of Magic Kingdom’s most inconsistent venues, which is part of why this reopening matters to regulars.
It opened with the park in 1971 as an Old West saloon with a stage revue, and over the decades it has cycled through show formats, seasonal-only operation, buffet-style family service, and full closures. For long stretches, guests walked past a beautiful two-story room that simply wasn’t open.
A small plates and cocktails menu is a real change of direction. It uses the saloon setting rather than fighting it, and it gives the venue a reason to stay open year-round instead of appearing only when crowds spike.
The Bottom Line
Diamond Horseshoe reservations open at 8pm ET on September 29, ahead of the October 4 reopening with a new small plates and cocktails menu in Liberty Square.
Set a reminder for that 8pm drop, plan to share plates rather than order individually, and remember walk-ups are still an option if you don’t land the date you want.
