Look at that list again. Art of Animation, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach, and both Port Orleans resorts.

Those are value and moderate resorts — no deluxe properties on the list at launch.

That makes sense. Refillable mug culture is strongest at value and moderate resorts, where guests are more likely to be eating at food courts, staying longer, and optimizing costs. Deluxe guests use the mugs less.

If you’re staying deluxe and want one, you’ll need to visit one of these five resorts. All are accessible via Disney transportation, and resort hopping is free.

Pairing With Rapid Fill

Disney’s Rapid Fill program covers fountain drinks, coffee, and tea at any resort self-service beverage location for the length of your stay.

Rapid Fill currently runs $22.99 plus tax and links to your mug for quick refills at self-service stations.

Is the Mug Worth It?

Do the arithmetic honestly, because it depends entirely on your trip.

At $22.99 plus tax for unlimited refills across your stay, the mug pays for itself at roughly five or six fountain drinks. Individual soft drinks at resort food courts run several dollars each.

Worth it if you’re staying four or more nights, you drink coffee every morning, or you’re travelling with people who drink soda regularly.

Not worth it if you’re staying two nights, you’re in the parks all day and only sleeping at the resort, or you mostly drink water.

The charm is a separate decision. It adds cost for a purely cosmetic benefit — plus the genuine practical value of identifying your mug.

What About the Old Mugs?

The accessories are designed for the current Resort Refillable Drink Mug handle.

Disney has redesigned the mug periodically over the years, and older mugs from previous trips have different handle profiles. There’s no indication the charms fit older designs.

If you’re bringing a mug from a previous trip — which doesn’t work with Rapid Fill anyway, since the program links to the current mug’s chip — assume the charm won’t fit either.
