- Animal sightings are never guaranteed on Kilimanjaro Safaris, but watch the Ankole herd as you pass through

Meet Cinnamon: Animal Kingdom’s Newest Ankole Calf
Ankole cattle are one of the most visually striking animals on Kilimanjaro Safaris. Native to the Great Lakes region of Africa, they’re best known for their massive, wide-sweeping horns — which can span up to 8 feet on fully grown adults. Calves are born a rich reddish-brown, which is almost certainly where the name “Cinnamon” comes from.
In the photos Disney shared, Cinnamon is small but fully on her feet and exploring the habitat. You can already spot tiny horn buds starting to form on top of her head — just a hint of the dramatic horns she’ll eventually develop as she matures. She’s been seen staying close to her mother, which is completely normal behavior for young calves in the herd.

Tips for Spotting Cinnamon on Kilimanjaro Safaris
Animal sightings on Kilimanjaro Safaris are never guaranteed — animals move around the habitat freely, rest in off-exhibit areas, or simply choose not to be visible on any given ride. That said, here are a few practical tips for giving yourself the best shot at spotting Cinnamon:
- Ride early or late in the day. Animals tend to be more active in the cooler morning and evening hours. Midday Florida heat sends most of them to shaded areas.
- Watch the Ankole herd specifically. Cinnamon will be with the herd, staying near her mother. Look for the group of large-horned cattle on the open savanna sections.
- Sit on the left side of the vehicle. The Ankole area on the safari route tends to be on the left as you move through the habitat, though positions can vary.
- Give yourself multiple rides. If you have Park Hopper or are spending a full day at Animal Kingdom, riding Kilimanjaro Safaris twice increases your chances.

About Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Kilimanjaro Safaris is the signature attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and it remains one of the best things you can do at any Walt Disney World park. The ride takes guests through a 110-acre open-air savanna habitat populated with real African wildlife — elephants, giraffes, lions, rhinos, hippos, flamingos, and many more species.
The experience is different every single time you ride it, which is exactly what makes it worth repeating. A new calf like Cinnamon is a genuine reason to get back on the ride. Baby animals are always exciting to spot, and the Ankole cattle are already one of the more visually memorable parts of the route because of those incredible horns.
Kilimanjaro Safaris operates daily at Animal Kingdom. Check the My Disney Experience app for current operating hours and Lightning Lane availability before your visit.
Meet Cinnamon at Animal Kingdom: Final Thoughts
Animal Kingdom’s Kilimanjaro Safaris newest Ankole calf Cinnamon is the kind of thing that makes the attraction special. This isn’t a scripted show — it’s real wildlife, and a new baby animal on the savanna is something you genuinely can’t predict or plan around. That unpredictability is part of what makes Kilimanjaro Safaris one of Disney’s best.
If you’re heading to Animal Kingdom soon, ride Kilimanjaro Safaris and keep your eyes on the Ankole herd. Cinnamon is out there. And if you don’t spot her on the first ride, you’ve got a great excuse to go again.
