Disney World has launched a new premium photography experience that takes things well beyond a standard PhotoPass photo stop. Signature Portrait Sessions offer private 40-minute shoots with professionally trained Disney photographers at the Grand Floridian and Polynesian resorts, complete with professional lighting equipment, props, and fully retouched photos. If you have been looking for a step up from the usual vacation shots, this is worth knowing about.
Quick Summary
- Disney World’s new Signature Portrait Sessions offer private 40-minute photo shoots with professional Disney PhotoPass photographers
- Sessions are $399 and currently available as part of a pilot program
- Available at four locations: Grand Floridian Resort, Villas at Grand Floridian, Polynesian Village Resort, and Polynesian Villas & Bungalows
- Most guests receive approximately 60 professionally retouched photos
- Advance booking required — email [email protected] up to 60 days ahead
- Full payment is due at booking; 24-hour cancellation policy applies
What Is Included in a Signature Portrait Session
Each session gives you up to 40 minutes with a specially trained Disney PhotoPass Portrait photographer and an assistant. They bring professional-grade photography and lighting equipment to the shoot — this is not a casual point-and-shoot experience. Props are provided, and all photos are professionally retouched before delivery.
Most guests receive around 60 retouched photos, though the exact number depends on how many locations you visit during the session and how much travel time is needed between them. Your booking includes all of the following:
- Up to 40 minutes of photography and consultation
- Access to props
- Professional photo retouching
- Downloads of all session images
Photos appear in your Disney PhotoPass gallery within one week of your session, accessible through the My Disney Experience app or online. A MyDisney account is required.
Where Sessions Take Place
Sessions are currently available at four locations, all in the deluxe resort area on the Seven Seas Lagoon:
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
- Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows
Both indoor and outdoor spots are available at each location. Your photographer will recommend the best spots based on your group size, your goals for the session, and the conditions that day. Keep in mind that specific locations can change due to weather or resort operations — flexibility is part of the experience.
If you want photos taken inside a theme park, Disney’s existing Capture Your Moment service is the alternative for that. Signature Portrait Sessions are specifically for the resort locations.
How to Book and What to Know
Advance reservations are required. You can book up to 60 days ahead by emailing the Signature Portrait Experience Team directly at [email protected]. Full payment of $399 is due at the time of booking.
A few important things to know before you book:
- Wedding attire is not permitted — for wedding photography, Disney recommends their Fine Art Photography and Video service instead
- Guests 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older
- You can bring your own props, as long as they comply with Walt Disney World Property Rules
- If you cancel within 24 hours of your session or do not show up, you will be charged the full $399
Is It Worth $399?
The value proposition really depends on what you are celebrating and how important professional-quality photos are to you. For a honeymoon, anniversary trip, family reunion, or milestone birthday, having 60 professionally retouched shots taken at the Grand Floridian or Polynesian by a Disney photographer who knows the best lighting spots and uses professional equipment — that is a very different product from snapping selfies at a PhotoPass spot.
The $399 price point is steep for a casual trip. But if you are already planning a special occasion at Walt Disney World and would otherwise hire a professional photographer, this is a compelling option that keeps everything within the Disney ecosystem with the convenience of delivery through My Disney Experience.
This is currently running as a pilot program, which means it could expand to more resorts or get adjusted based on guest feedback. Stay tuned to DisMornings for updates as this experience develops.
