Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Closing Spring 2026
The pre-show for Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster closed permanently earlier than expected, but the ride itself has remained open. Disney used the same approach when retheming the Disneyland Paris version of Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster into an Iron Man experience. It allows the team to begin interior preparation work while keeping the coaster operational for guests.
Hollywood Studios often skipped the pre-show during busy mornings to improve throughput, so its early closure has had little impact on ride flow. The move also gives Walt Disney Imagineering additional time to install new show elements before the larger refurbishment begins.
Disney confirmed the full attraction closure for spring 2026 as it prepares to launch the updated ride in summer 2026.
“And if we rock on over to Sunset Boulevard, there’s a Muppetational transformation going down – Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open summer 2026. Looking to take another ride with Aerosmith before rolling out the red carpet for The Muppets? You can keep ridin’ and rockin’ (and rollin’) until spring 2026!” — Walt Disney World
UPDATE (December 12, 2025):
Disney has announced the last day to ‘Walk This Way’ onto Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will be March 2, 2026. The updated version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open in the summer of 2026.

Overview of the Rethemed Attraction
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets arrives at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in summer 2026 with a new story centered on Electric Mayhem and their biggest Hollywood concert yet. Guests will hear Animal, Dr. Teeth, and the full crew as they race across the city to reach the stage in time.
The adventure begins at G-Force Records, now operating under Muppet control after a change led by Scooter’s uncle, J.P. Grosse. The studio has been reimagined with bold colors, scattered instruments, and the familiar style fans expect from The Muppets.
The large red guitar outside the attraction is receiving a refreshed psychedelic design inspired by classic Muppet artwork. The piano keys at the base include a golden key as a nod to the band leader.
Inside, the Electric Mayhem jam in the studio while penguin audio engineers work to record the session. Scooter tries to persuade the band to leave before fans grow restless. Guests soon join the effort, launching into a race across Hollywood in a limousine built by Muppet Labs.
The coaster speeds through landmarks with Muppet humor layered into the scenery. Electric Mayhem tracks play throughout the ride, keeping the experience high-energy from start to finish.
The update brings fresh energy to Sunset Boulevard and gives longtime fans a final stretch to enjoy the classic version before the coaster shifts into its next chapter. With work beginning in spring 2026 and the debut set for summer 2026, the excitement around this transformation continues to build as Disney prepares to bring The Muppets back into the spotlight in a big way.
