If you’re building a winter trip, you can start planning around this one now. Universal Orlando has announced dates for 2027 Mardi Gras: International Flavors of Carnaval, running daily from February 6 through March 27, 2027 at Universal Studios Florida.
That’s a 50-day run, and the most important detail is that access is included with regular admission to Universal Studios Florida. No separate event ticket, no upcharge to get in the gate.
Here’s what’s confirmed, what Universal hasn’t announced yet, and how I’d plan a trip around it.
Quick Summary
- Event: Universal’s Mardi Gras: International Flavors of Carnaval
- Dates: Daily, February 6 through March 27, 2027
- Where: Universal Studios Florida
- Cost: Included with regular park admission
- What’s included: Carnaval-inspired cuisine, a parade with floats and beads, and live concerts on select nights
- Still to come: The concert lineup, the food and beverage list, and the parade theme
What’s Confirmed So Far
Universal describes the parkwide celebration as transforming Universal Studios Florida into Florida’s biggest party. The confirmed elements:
- Cuisine inspired by Carnaval celebrations from around the world
- A lively parade filled with vibrant floats, where partygoers can catch beads by the handful
- Live concerts by top names in music on select nights
More details, including the concert lineup, the food and beverage selection, and the parade theme, will be revealed soon.
The Part That Matters Most
Access is included with regular admission. That single fact is what separates this from most seasonal theme park events in Orlando, where the good stuff sits behind a separate ticket costing well over $100.
If you’re visiting Universal Studios Florida on any day between February 6 and March 27, you get the parade and the atmosphere as part of the day you already paid for.
One caveat worth flagging: Universal hasn’t said how the food works. At events built around tasting menus, individual items are typically purchased separately even when event access is free. Wait for the food and beverage announcement before you budget.
Why the Dates Are Worth Noting
A February 6 start and a March 27 finish covers a genuinely good stretch of the year in Central Florida.
The weather. February and March bring daytime highs that make a full park day comfortable in a way July simply doesn’t. Standing on a parade route in Orlando in February is pleasant. In summer it’s an endurance event.
The crowd calendar. This window includes Presidents’ Day weekend and the spring break period, which are busy. It also includes plenty of ordinary weekdays in February that are among the quieter days of the year at Universal Orlando.
If you can travel in early February on a weekday, you get the event with a fraction of the crowds you’d face in mid-March.
How to Plan a Mardi Gras Day at Universal Studios Florida
Based on how parkwide events like this usually run, here’s the approach I’d take.
Ride First, Party Later
Parades and concerts happen in the evening. Attractions are at their emptiest early in the day. Use the morning for headliners, then shift into the event atmosphere as the afternoon winds down.
The mistake people make is trying to do both at once, then finding themselves in a 50-minute standby line while the parade is stepping off.
Pick Your Parade Spot Deliberately
Bead-catching is a real part of this event, and where you stand changes how much you come home with. Spots near the start of the route tend to be less crowded, while spots along the main stretch put you closer to the energy.
Arrive at your spot before the parade rather than trying to squeeze in as it starts.
Concert Nights Change the Math
Live concerts on select nights draw significantly bigger crowds, especially when the lineup is announced and a popular act lands on a particular date. Those nights are great if you want the concert and frustrating if you just wanted a quiet park evening.
Once the lineup drops, decide which you want. Then book accordingly.
Build in a Food Plan
Carnaval-inspired cuisine from around the world is the second half of the event name for a reason. If the food follows the usual festival structure, you’ll be grazing across multiple locations rather than sitting down for a single meal.
Eat a real breakfast, graze through the afternoon and evening, and don’t fill up at one booth.
What We Still Don’t Know
Three things worth waiting on before you finalize plans:
- The concert lineup, which determines which nights are worth targeting and which to avoid
- The food and beverage list, including whether items are sold individually and at what price
- The parade theme, which changes the floats and the overall look of the event
Universal says all three are coming soon. Historically, that information arrives closer to the event, often in January.
Should You Build a Trip Around It?
Yes if: you want a seasonal park event without a separate ticket, you like live music, and you can travel in February or March.
Probably not if: you’re chasing a specific concert act. The lineup isn’t out, and booking flights around an unannounced schedule is how you end up disappointed.
A good middle path: book a flexible February weekday trip now for the lower crowds, and treat whatever the lineup turns out to be as a bonus.
The Bottom Line
2027 Mardi Gras: International Flavors of Carnaval runs daily from February 6 through March 27, 2027 at Universal Studios Florida, with Carnaval-inspired food, a bead-throwing parade, and select-night concerts, all included with regular park admission.
Target an early-February weekday for the quietest version of the event, ride in the morning, and wait for the concert lineup before locking in specific dates.
