Disney fans who love their DOLE Whip take note: Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new permit for Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland. The permit — a Notice of Commencement — was filed by WDI and lists Kentavo as the contractor. The scope of work is described as the installation of signage.
What Is Aloha Isle?
If you’ve ever stood in a long line in Adventureland on a hot Florida afternoon, chances are you were waiting for a DOLE Whip from Aloha Isle. This quick-service stand is one of the most iconic and most-visited food spots in all of Magic Kingdom. It sits right next to Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room and has become synonymous with the Walt Disney World experience for generations of guests.
What Does the Permit Mean?
Here’s the interesting wrinkle with this filing: it was submitted by Walt Disney Imagineering, not Disney’s Facility Asset Management team, which typically handles routine maintenance and infrastructure work. When WDI files a permit, it can suggest that guest-facing changes are involved — though in this particular case, the scope is described simply as signage installation.
That said, don’t get too hyped for a major overhaul just yet. New signage at an existing location is a relatively minor update and doesn’t necessarily indicate structural or thematic changes. It could be as simple as updated menu boards or refreshed branding. No closure dates have been announced, and Aloha Isle is expected to remain open throughout any work.
Current Aloha Isle Menu
In case you need a refresher before your next visit, here’s what Aloha Isle is currently serving:
- Tropical Serenade Float — Passion Fruit, Orange, and Guava Juice with Coconut Soft-serve and a Pineapple Upside-down Cake Garnish — $8.29
- DOLE Whip® Pineapple Juice Float — Served with choice of DOLE Whip® Pineapple, Vanilla, or Swirl — $7.29
- Soft-serve Cup — Served with choice of DOLE Whip® Pineapple, Vanilla, DOLE Whip® Pineapple and Vanilla Swirl, or Coconut — $5.99
- Pineapple Upside-Down Cake — Served with choice of DOLE Whip® Pineapple, Vanilla, or Swirl — $7.49
What to Watch For
The fact that WDI is involved at all is worth keeping an eye on. Even minor signage work at a beloved Adventureland landmark is noteworthy, and it’s possible this could be part of broader refurbishment activity in the area. We’ll keep monitoring this as more details emerge. For now, Aloha Isle is open and the DOLE Whips are flowing, so no need to panic.
We’ll update this post when additional permit filings or closure information becomes available.
