Universal Studios Hollywood just put a four-figure annual pass on the table, and the pitch is more interesting than the price tag suggests.
The Universal Studios Hollywood Diamond Annual Pass costs $999.95, with a FlexPay option starting at $50 per month plus a down payment. It slots in above the existing Platinum and Gold passes as the new top tier, and it folds in things Universal normally sells separately: a VIP Experience, a Halloween Horror Nights ticket, and a Universal Fan Fest Nights ticket.
The benefit that will matter most to anyone who visits often is buried in the middle of the list. Diamond’s Universal Express access starts at park opening. Platinum’s starts after 3pm. That gap is worth more than it reads.
One quick clarification before anything else, because the names collide: this is Universal Studios Hollywood in California. Not Universal Orlando. Both resorts now have a ride called Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, and this pass only applies to the California park.
Quick Summary
- The Diamond Annual Pass costs $999.95 per person.

- It sits above the existing Platinum and Gold Annual Passes.
- There are no blockout dates.
- Universal Express access begins at park opening, versus after 3pm on Platinum.

- It also includes one Halloween Horror Nights ticket and one Universal Fan Fest Nights ticket.
- Free general parking is included, excluding select timeframes.
What the Universal Studios Hollywood Diamond Annual Pass Includes
Here is the complete benefit list as Universal published it.
- No blockout dates
- One-time Universal Express access to all attractions, including Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, beginning at park opening
- One complimentary VIP Experience on select dates
- One complimentary Universal Fan Fest Nights ticket
- One complimentary Halloween Horror Nights ticket
- Free general parking all day, excluding select timeframes
- 20% discount on in-park food, beverages, and merchandise
- 10% to 15% discount at participating Universal CityWalk locations
Read the qualifiers carefully. The Express access is one-time, not unlimited. The VIP Experience is good on select dates. Parking is free excluding select timeframes. Universal has not published which dates or timeframes are excluded, and those exclusions are where a pass like this quietly loses value.
Diamond Versus Platinum: What You Actually Gain
Universal named three differences, and they are not equally valuable.
The VIP Experience. This is the headline. Universal sells the VIP Experience as a premium guided product, and getting one included is the single largest line item on this list.
A Fan Fest Nights ticket. A separately ticketed event, now bundled.
Express from park opening instead of after 3pm. This is the one people will undervalue, and it is the one I would weight most heavily if I visited often.
Why Morning Express Beats Afternoon Express
Think about how a park day actually goes.
Standby lines at Universal Studios Hollywood build through the morning and peak in the early afternoon. By 3pm the worst of it has usually passed, which means Platinum’s Express kicks in right as the queues start to soften. You are spending a premium benefit on the easiest part of the day.
Express from park opening is the opposite. You walk in and go straight at whatever has the longest line, including Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, which opened on September 16, 2026 and is still the newest ride in the park. New coasters hold their waits longest in the morning.
Same benefit, very different value, depending on when the clock starts.
How to Price This Against Platinum
I am not going to invent numbers Universal has not published, so here is the method instead.
Find the current price of the Platinum Annual Pass. Subtract it from $999.95. That difference is what Diamond actually costs you.
Then price these four things separately on Universal’s site: one VIP Experience, one Halloween Horror Nights ticket, one Universal Fan Fest Nights ticket, and the upgrade from afternoon to morning Express. If those four add up to more than your Platinum-to-Diamond gap, Diamond wins on math alone.
For a lot of Southern California locals, the VIP Experience and the two event tickets will cover most of that gap by themselves. If you were already buying an HHN ticket every October, that is not a perk, it is a purchase you were making anyway.
The Discounts Add Up Faster Than You Think
The two discount lines are easy to skim past and they compound for frequent visitors.
20% off in-park food, beverages, and merchandise is a strong rate. Twenty percent is higher than most park discount tiers offer, and it applies to the category where passholders spend most.
10% to 15% at participating Universal CityWalk locations is a weaker benefit, for two reasons. The range means some places give 10% and some give 15%, and participating is doing real work in that sentence. Do not budget CityWalk dining around it without checking the specific restaurant.
If you visit monthly and spend on a meal and a drink each time, the in-park 20% alone returns a meaningful share of the pass over a year.
Who Should Actually Buy This
Being direct, because a thousand dollars deserves it.
Buy it if you are a local who does both seasonal events. Halloween Horror Nights and Fan Fest Nights tickets are bundled. If those were already on your calendar, Diamond absorbs two purchases you were going to make.
Buy it if you visit often enough to use the discounts. Monthly visitors recover real money through the 20% in-park rate.
Skip it if you visit once or twice a year. One-time Express and one VIP Experience spread across two visits does not justify the jump from a lower tier. Gold or Platinum will serve you better.
Skip it if you need specific blackout-heavy dates and nothing else. No blockout dates is genuinely valuable, but Platinum may already cover your dates for less.
Think hard if FlexPay is the only way you can afford it. $50 per month plus a down payment across a year is a real commitment for a discretionary purchase. The payment plan makes the price easier to swallow, not smaller.
What Universal Has Not Said Yet
Three gaps worth watching before you commit.
Universal has not published which dates the VIP Experience excludes, which parking timeframes are excluded, or which CityWalk locations participate at 10% versus 15%. All three are the kind of detail that shifts the value calculation, and all three are normally buried in pass terms rather than in the announcement.
Check the terms on Universal’s own passholder page before you buy, especially if your visits cluster around holidays.
The Bottom Line
The Universal Studios Hollywood Diamond Annual Pass is $999.95, available on FlexPay from $50 per month with a down payment, and it becomes the top tier above Platinum and Gold. You get no blockout dates, one-time Express starting at park opening, a complimentary VIP Experience on select dates, Halloween Horror Nights and Fan Fest Nights tickets, free general parking outside select timeframes, 20% off in-park food and merchandise, and 10% to 15% off at participating CityWalk spots.
The Express timing is the underrated piece and the two event tickets are where the money actually is. If you are a local who does both seasonal events and visits monthly, the math gets reasonable quickly. If you visit twice a year, it does not.
Price your own Platinum-to-Diamond gap against those bundled items before you buy, and read the exclusions. And if you are planning a visit this winter, our 2026 Universal Studios Hollywood holiday guide covers what is running in the park right now.
