New food at Magic Kingdom lands July 21, and both additions are in Frontierland. Golden Oak Outpost picks up Hot Honey Chicken Strips, and Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe adds a Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger plus Churro Loops.
Three items, two locations, one land. If you’re planning a Magic Kingdom day and you want something you haven’t eaten fifteen times already, this is where to look.
Here’s what’s on each menu, what makes them worth a stop, and how to work them into a Frontierland afternoon without wrecking your touring plan.
Quick Summary
- New food at Magic Kingdom arrives July 21 at two Frontierland quick service locations
- Golden Oak Outpost adds Hot Honey Chicken Strips with marshmallow and candied pecan sweet potato waffle fries
- Pecos Bill adds a Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger with Angus beef and house-made bacon jam
- Pecos Bill also adds Churro Loops tossed in cinnamon-sugar with house-made chocolate sauce
- Both locations are quick service and accept Mobile Order
Golden Oak Outpost: Hot Honey Chicken Strips
Golden Oak Outpost adds Hot Honey Chicken Strips to its menu. The strips come with marshmallow and candied pecan-topped sweet potato waffle fries.
Read that side dish again, because it’s the actual story here. Sweet potato waffle fries topped with marshmallow and candied pecans is a sweet potato casserole in fry form. That’s a Thanksgiving side served next to fried chicken in July, and it’s the most interesting thing on either menu.
Hot honey on chicken is a well-traveled combination at this point, and it works because the sweetness and the heat land at different moments. Pairing it with a side that leans further sweet is a choice. It’ll either be excellent or too much, with very little middle ground.
Why Golden Oak Outpost Is Underrated
Golden Oak Outpost is one of the smaller Frontierland windows and it gets skipped constantly. That’s exactly why it’s useful.
Lines here stay shorter than Pecos Bill through most of the day, and the seating nearby is easier to find. If you’re eating between 12pm and 2pm at Magic Kingdom, the small windows are almost always the better call.

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe: Two New Items
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe rolls out two additions.
The Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger features Angus beef, American cheese, house-made bacon jam, and barbecue sauce. It comes with french fries.
House-made bacon jam is the detail worth noting. Bacon jam done properly — bacon slow-cooked down with onion, vinegar, and sugar into something spreadable — adds real depth to a burger. Done lazily, it’s just sweet bacon bits. The “house-made” label suggests the kitchen is doing the work.
Churro Loops round out the additions. They’re tossed in cinnamon-sugar and served with house-made chocolate sauce.
Churro Loops are the smarter format for a theme park. A traditional churro is awkward to eat while walking and impossible to share. Loops solve both problems, and the dipping sauce comes along for the ride.
Pecos Bill’s Real Advantage
The indoor air conditioned seating is the other advantage. In July and August at Magic Kingdom, a large indoor dining room is worth planning around regardless of what’s on the menu.
How to Fit These Into a Magic Kingdom Day
A few practical notes:
- Use Mobile Order. Both locations support it, and the time savings at peak lunch is significant. Place the order while you’re in line for Big Thunder Mountain and pick it up when you’re off.
- Eat early or late. The 12pm to 1:30pm window is the worst at both spots. Eating at 11am or 2:30pm cuts your wait substantially.
- Split the Churro Loops. They’re a dessert portion built for sharing, and Magic Kingdom has plenty of other snacks competing for stomach space.
- Frontierland pairs well with a midday break. These two locations sit near Big Thunder Mountain and Splash-adjacent walkways, so it’s an easy stop between the mountain rides and a return trip to Fantasyland.
Are These Worth Ordering?
The Hot Honey Chicken Strips are the one to try first, mostly because of that sweet potato waffle fry side. It’s the most distinctive plate of the three, and nothing else at Magic Kingdom is doing anything like it.
The Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger is a good version of a familiar thing. If you’re at Pecos Bill and want a burger, order it over the standard option — the bacon jam earns its place.
The Churro Loops are a solid snack but they’re competing against Dole Whip, the Cheshire Cafe, and every popcorn cart on Main Street. Order them if you’re already at Pecos Bill, not as a destination.
The Bottom Line
New food at Magic Kingdom arrives July 21 with Hot Honey Chicken Strips at Golden Oak Outpost and a Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger plus Churro Loops at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe.
Frontierland is where the quick service action is right now. Mobile Order ahead, aim for off-peak, and start with the chicken strips — that sweet potato waffle fry side is the most interesting thing to hit a Magic Kingdom menu in a while.
