Hey Disney Vacationers! Heading to Walt Disney World soon? If you’re aiming to maximize every minute, then understanding the ins and outs of single rider lines is crucial. Here’s a lowdown on what you need to know about Disney World Single Rider lines, so you can decide if it’s the right choice for your adventure!
1. Embrace the Solo Adventure
Single Rider lines are a blessing for those willing to ride solo, strategically placed to fill empty seats and keep the attractions running efficiently. Available at select rides, these lines offer a separate entrance—usually well-marked but occasionally a bit hidden, like the one for Expedition Everest, tucked away left of the gift shop entrance or right of the main entrance. While it’s a great option for individuals or groups okay with not sticking together, remember, it’s a faux pas to request pairing at the front of the line. So, enjoy the ride—literally!
2. Where Can You Find Single Rider Lines?
As of now, four Disney World attractions offer permanent Single Rider lines—none of which are at Magic Kingdom. Your options include:
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Hollywood Studios
- Test Track at EPCOT
- Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios
Keep in mind, Single Rider lines might not be operational early in the morning, late in the evening, or on less crowded days. Occasionally, Disney introduces temporary Single Rider lines at popular attractions like Soarin’ during peak times—stay alert or you might miss the announcement!
Additionally, on most riders are you get closer to the attraction load area you may hear a cast member call out “single riders”. If you’re traveling solo or ready to leave your group in the dust, listen for these call outs, as it can save time. Ten minutes here, ten minutes there, really adds up!
3. A Different Ride Experience
Opting for a Single Rider line often means a shorter wait, but it does come with trade-offs. For instance, at Test Track, you’ll skip the segment where you design your own car, and at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, you’ll likely miss being the pilot and seeing the pre-show with Hondo Tanaka . However, at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, the experience is pretty similar to the regular queue. Consider what you might miss, especially if it’s your first visit or if there are pre-show elements you’re curious about.
4. Not Ideal for Young Kids
If you’re traveling with children, note that the Single Rider line may not be suitable. Children must be at least seven years old to ride alone. Even for kids who meet the age requirement, consider their comfort with potentially sitting next to strangers or being separated briefly from the group. Always prioritize safety and assurance, especially in a bustling environment like Disney World.
5. Time-Saving? Maybe, Maybe Not
The time-saving potential of Single Rider lines varies by attraction. Rides with two-person rows like Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Expedition Everest may not always offer faster boarding. However, attractions with larger vehicle capacities like Test Track and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run are generally more efficient. It’s a bit of a gamble, and crowd levels on the day of your visit can significantly influence wait times.
A good rule to follow is if the wait time for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster or Expedition Everest is under 20 minutes, opt for the regular line. For more great insights on Disney World single rider lines check out my full guide.
