If you were planning to duck into the DVC lounge after dinner, check the clock first. McKim’s Mile House has changed its operating hours again — the Frontierland Member Lounge at Magic Kingdom is now open 10:00 am to 7:00 pm daily.
That’s the second change since the lounge opened, and this one moves the window an hour earlier at both ends.
Quick Summary
- New hours: 10:00 am to 7:00 pm daily
- Opens an hour earlier than the January 2026 schedule
- Closes an hour earlier too
- Located in Frontierland near Country Bear Musical Jamboree
- First-come, first-served for eligible DVC Members and their guests
- Membership Card and matching photo ID required
What Changed
In January 2026, DVC extended hours to 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
The new schedule moves the opening time up by an hour and closes an hour earlier than before.
- Previous: Opens – 11:00 am, Closes – 8:00 pm
- New: Opens – 10:00 am, Closes – 7:00 pm
The total window is unchanged at nine hours. It has simply shifted an hour earlier on the clock.
What the Shift Probably Tells Us
DVC didn’t extend or shorten the lounge day — it moved it. That’s a specific decision, and it suggests a specific read on usage.
Shifting earlier implies morning demand was going unserved. Magic Kingdom’s rope drop crowd is on property well before 11:00 am, and a lounge that opens two hours into the operating day misses the window when guests who arrived at park opening start looking for somewhere to sit.
Losing the 7pm–8pm hour implies the reverse at the other end. Evening park hours are when guests are watching fireworks, eating dinner, or riding the attractions they queued for — not resting indoors.
It’s a sensible adjustment if the data supported it, though anyone whose routine involved a pre-fireworks break in air conditioning has just lost that.
What’s Inside
McKim’s Mile House gives DVC Members a place to rest during a park day. Amenities include:
- Comfortable seating
- Complimentary soft drinks
- Wi-Fi
- Charging cords upon request
- On-site Member Services Advisors
Why the Lounge Matters More Than It Sounds
Air-conditioned seating at Magic Kingdom is genuinely scarce, and that’s the whole value proposition here.
Magic Kingdom has very few places to sit indoors without buying something. Compare it to EPCOT, where the World Showcase pavilions and lounges give you options, or to Animal Kingdom, where shade is designed into the park’s structure. Magic Kingdom’s respite options are largely restaurants, the Hall of Presidents, Carousel of Progress, and the Tiki Room — all of which either cost money or require sitting through a show.
In August heat, a quiet room with cold drinks and a charger is worth more than it appears on paper. For DVC Members touring with small children or anyone who needs a genuine break mid-day, this is one of the more practically useful membership perks at Walt Disney World.
The Member Services Advisors on site are the underrated part. Being able to ask a real person about points, reservations, or a booking problem without calling and waiting on hold is a meaningful convenience.
Entry Requirements
Entry is available to eligible Disney Vacation Club Members and their guests, first-come, first-served.
You’ll need:
- A valid Membership Card
- Matching photo ID
The same applies if you leave and come back — so don’t assume a re-entry pass or hand stamp will cover you.
The lounge sits in Frontierland, close to Country Bear Musical Jamboree.
The First-Come, First-Served Detail
There’s no reservation system, which is the part worth planning around.
At a lounge with finite seating in a park drawing tens of thousands of guests daily, “first-come, first-served” means capacity is a real constraint during peak periods. Holiday weeks, spring break, and the run-up to Christmas are when you’re most likely to find it full.
The new 10:00 am opening actually helps here. An earlier open spreads arrivals across a longer stretch of the morning rather than concentrating everyone at an 11:00 am rush.
Where It Is
McKim’s Mile House is in Frontierland, near Country Bear Musical Jamboree.
That’s a well-chosen spot. Frontierland sits at the far end of Magic Kingdom from the entrance, which is exactly where guests are furthest into their day and most likely to want a break. It’s also adjacent to Big Thunder Mountain and the Country Bear theater, so it’s easy to work into a touring route without a dedicated detour.
The Country Bear proximity is a useful landmark if you haven’t been before, since the lounge entrance is not heavily signed from the walkway.
Should You Plan Around the New Hours?
If you’re a rope drop guest: the change works in your favour. You can now use the lounge from 10:00 am, which lines up with the point in the morning when the first wave of attractions is done and the heat starts building.
If you tour late: adjust. A 7:00 pm close means the lounge is shut well before evening entertainment, and there’s no longer a pre-fireworks option.
If you tour mid-day: nothing meaningful changes for you.
The Bottom Line
McKim’s Mile House DVC Lounge at Magic Kingdom is now open 10:00 am to 7:00 pm daily, shifting the nine-hour window an hour earlier than the January 2026 schedule.
Entry remains first-come, first-served for eligible DVC Members and their guests with a valid Membership Card and matching photo ID, including on re-entry.
