Walt Disney Imagineering has pulled back the curtain on one of the most detailed pieces of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets — the redesigned 40-foot Stratocaster guitar at the entrance to G-Force Records. Senior Show Manager Josh shared a behind-the-scenes video walking through the design philosophy and the hidden details that make the courtyard experience more than just a backdrop.
Quick Summary
- WDI Senior Show Manager Josh shared a behind-the-scenes look at the redesigned Stratocaster
- The courtyard is designed to set the tone before guests enter G-Force Records
- A hidden golden piano key at the base of the 40-foot guitar honors Dr. Teeth of The Electric Mayhem
- The key is placed just left of center, matching Dr. Teeth’s golden tooth
- Annual Passholder previews May 21-23; DVC Members May 24; public opening May 26
The Courtyard Is Part of the Experience
According to Josh, every element of the courtyard — the arch, the inverted limo, the guitar, the poster — is working together with one purpose: preparing guests for what’s inside. “What we’ve tried to achieve out here is to set the stage for the guests as they pass through the arch and walk under that incredible inverted limo and make their way over to this guitar, this poster, all of it. We’re trying to set the stage and set the tone for what is going to be a loud, fun, and colorful experience.”
The experience doesn’t start when you board the coaster. It starts the moment you walk under that arch.
The Golden Piano Key: A Hidden Nod to Dr. Teeth
At the base of the 40-foot Stratocaster, within the piano keyboard motif, is a golden piano key — a deliberate Easter egg honoring Dr. Teeth of The Electric Mayhem.
“For all of our dental esthetic enthusiasts out there, we had to include what is, in my opinion, the frosting on the cake, a golden piano key, which is a nod to Dr. Teeth,” Josh said. “We placed it just left of center to sort of match its location within his opulent smile, as Dr. Teeth would say, golden teeth and golden tones.”
It’s easy to walk past without noticing — which is exactly the point. Imagineers didn’t just redesign the guitar’s look. They embedded a character tribute directly into the architecture.
How to Find It
Look at the piano keyboard design running along the base of the large Stratocaster in the G-Force Records courtyard. The golden key sits slightly left of center. No label, no spotlight — just a quiet nod to Dr. Teeth for guests who are paying attention.
