Disney just confirmed what’s filling some of the long-vacant storefronts at Disney’s BoardWalk, and it’s the first real answer to a question fans have been asking for months. A new lounge and a new retail shop are both set to open in late 2026, with a third announcement, a quick-service restaurant, still to come later this summer.
If you’ve walked the BoardWalk promenade recently and noticed the empty storefronts, here’s what’s about to fill them in.
Quick Summary
- Disney confirmed two new additions coming to Disney’s BoardWalk in late 2026
- Hurly-Burly is a new lounge and live music venue with family programming by day and a 21-and-over scene at night
- Hurly-Burly appears to be heading into the former Jellyrolls space
- Basin on the BoardWalk is a handcrafted bath and body retail shop with interactive stations
- Basin confirms earlier speculation around the “Project Bubbles” permit filing
- A quick-service restaurant is still coming, with details expected later this summer
Hurly-Burly: A New Lounge and Live Music Venue
The first new addition is Hurly-Burly, a lounge set along the waterfront inside what Disney describes as a historic seaside theatre with a BoardWalk story spanning over a century. The venue runs in two modes depending on the time of day:
- Afternoons: Family-friendly programming including trivia and games hosted by an on-stage host
- Evenings: A 21-and-over live music venue serving coastal-inspired cocktails and light bites
Disney hasn’t confirmed the exact location, but Hurly-Burly appears to be a strong fit for the former Jellyrolls space. Jellyrolls closed in April 2025 after nearly 30 years as the BoardWalk’s dueling piano bar, and the space is currently being gutted. A live entertainment venue replacing a live entertainment venue, in a room already built for a stage and an audience, makes logical sense.
If that’s the case, Hurly-Burly would also represent a meaningful shift in format. Where Jellyrolls was exclusively a late-night, adults-only venue, Hurly-Burly’s daytime family programming opens the space to a much broader audience.
Basin on the BoardWalk: Bath and Body Retail
The second addition is Basin on the BoardWalk, a retail shop bringing handcrafted bath and body products to the promenade. The product range includes natural soaps, botanical bath salts, bath bombs, body butters, lip salves, and shampoo and conditioner bars.
What sets it apart from a standard retail shop is the interactive element. The location will feature:
- A custom bath tea blending counter
- A make-your-own-soap station
- A soap embossing press for personalized finishing
Basin is an existing brand, so this will be its Disney’s BoardWalk location rather than a concept created for the resort. For those following our earlier coverage, this confirms the speculation around “Project Bubbles,” the permit filing at the former Promenade Fine Art Gallery. Bath and body products were floated as one possibility when the name first surfaced, and Basin fits squarely in that category.
More Still to Come
Disney says a new quick-service restaurant is also in the pipeline, with details expected later this summer. That announcement will likely account for the former Big River Grille & Brewing Works space, listed as “Project Amazon” in the CFTOD database, which has sat empty since January 2024. The existing kitchen infrastructure there makes it a natural fit for a food and beverage tenant.
With Hurly-Burly likely at the former Jellyrolls, Basin at the former Promenade Fine Art Gallery, and a quick-service restaurant likely at the former Big River Grille, the long-vacant west side of the BoardWalk promenade finally appears to be taking shape.
What This Means for the BoardWalk’s Future
Disney’s BoardWalk opened back in 1996, built around the idea of an early 1900s Atlantic seaside boardwalk, and the resort has leaned on that nostalgic theming for nearly three decades. Filling these long-vacant spaces with a lounge and a retail concept that both lean into the BoardWalk’s storytelling, rather than generic options, suggests Disney is treating this refresh as a chance to reinforce the resort’s identity rather than just patching empty storefronts.
It’s also a sign that Disney sees enough ongoing demand at the BoardWalk to invest in new tenants rather than letting the promenade sit half-empty indefinitely. Between the Swan and Dolphin nearby and Disney’s own EPCOT resort area foot traffic, the BoardWalk promenade still pulls a steady stream of visitors even without a marquee new attraction.
If you’re staying at the BoardWalk later this year, keep an eye out for opening date announcements on both Hurly-Burly and Basin as late 2026 approaches, since exact dates haven’t been confirmed yet beyond the general timeframe Disney shared.
Final Thoughts on the New Disney’s BoardWalk Additions
These two announcements answer a question BoardWalk regulars have been asking since Jellyrolls closed back in April 2025. Hurly-Burly’s dual-format approach and Basin’s hands-on retail concept both look like upgrades over what they’re replacing, and the promised quick-service restaurant should round out the promenade once it’s announced.
