Disneyland Early Entry Ends in 2026: What You Need to Know

Disneyland Early Entry Ends

Hey Disney Vacationers! Disneyland Resort just dropped big news: Early Entry is ending in 2026. For years, this perk has been one of the best reasons to stay at a Disneyland Resort hotel. Starting January 5, 2026, guests will no longer be able to enter the parks 30 minutes early. Instead, hotel guests will receive one free Lightning Lane entry per stay. Let’s break it down.

What Early Entry Looked Like

If you’re staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel before January 5, 2026, you still get to enjoy Early Entry. That means 30 minutes of exclusive park time before regular guests. It’s a huge advantage, especially at Disneyland Park where Fantasyland attractions don’t offer Lightning Lane.

During Early Entry, Disney Resort guests can hit some of the most popular rides with little to no wait:

  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Snow White’s Enchanted Wish
  • Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride
  • Pinocchio’s Daring Journey
  • Alice in Wonderland

Here’s how it was scheduled:

  • Disneyland Park: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
  • Disney California Adventure: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday

If you’ve ever done it, you know you could knock out half of Fantasyland before official park opening.

The Change in 2026

Starting January 5, 2026, Early Entry goes away. Instead, hotel guests will get a one-time Lightning Lane entry during their stay. This works like a single-use Lightning Lane Multi Pass selection, subject to attraction availability and rules.

It’s important to note: this is one Lightning Lane entry per stay, not per day. That’s a huge difference in value.

My Take as a Disneyland Fan

Here’s the honest truth: the new Lightning Lane perk doesn’t hold the same weight as Early Entry. If you’ve used Early Entry at Disneyland Park, you know how powerful it is. You could walk onto Peter Pan’s Flight (a ride that regularly has 45+ minute waits) and work through most of Fantasyland in that 30-minute window.

None of those rides are part of the Lightning Lane Multi Pass, which makes the new perk feel like a downgrade for Disneyland fans. At Disney California Adventure, Early Entry wasn’t quite as strong, but it still gave you a head start on popular rides like Web Slingers or Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout.

Planning Around the Change

  • If you want Early Entry: Book your Disneyland trip before January 4, 2026.
  • If traveling after: Plan to rope drop with regular guests and use your Lightning Lane entry strategically on a high-demand attraction like Indiana Jones Adventure or Space Mountain.
  • For hotel value: This change may shift how guests see on-property perks compared to staying off-site.

Final Thoughts

The news that Disneyland Early Entry ends in 2026 is disappointing for many of us who saw it as a major advantage of staying on-site. One Lightning Lane entry is nice, but it doesn’t compare to the ability to walk through multiple rides in Fantasyland before the crowds arrive.

If you’re planning a trip in the next two years, lock in those Early Entry mornings while you still can. After 2026, strategy at Disneyland will look very different.
