Disney Golf Unveils Grumpy Statue at Magnolia Golf Course’s Grumpy’s Gauntlet

Disney Golf just gave Magnolia Golf Course one of its most memorable new landmarks. A six-foot Grumpy statue — carved from Carrara marble by Walt Disney Imagineering using an AI-powered stone-carving robot — now stands at the entrance to Grumpy’s Gauntlet, the nickname for holes 14 through 17 on the back nine. It is a fun, character-driven addition to one of the more demanding stretches on the course, and it is already set to become the best photo stop on the back nine.

The Grumpy Statue

The statue shows Grumpy perched atop a rock in his signature scowl — a fitting welcome to one of the more demanding stretches of golf at Walt Disney World. It stands six feet tall at the tee box for hole No. 14, carved from Carrara marble using an AI-powered stone-carving robot developed in partnership with Walt Disney Imagineering. The wooden sign alongside it carries Grumpy’s iconic line from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: ‘Mark my words, there’s trouble a-brewin’!’

It is a clever piece of theming that transforms what would otherwise be just a difficult back nine into a narrative experience. You are not just playing hard holes — you are playing Grumpy’s Gauntlet.

What Is Grumpy’s Gauntlet?

Holes 14-17 at Magnolia were redesigned as part of the biggest overhaul the course has seen since 2015. The four-hole stretch earns its name:

• Hole 15 — nicknamed “The Dinglehopper” (a nod to The Little Mermaid) — stretches 597 yards from the back tees, one of the longest holes at Walt Disney World Golf
• Hole 17 is a par 3 that plays over 200 yards
• The entire stretch features fresh tropical landscaping, well-maintained fairways, and white sand bunkers

The redesign gave every hole on the course a Disney-inspired name tied to classic films, alongside quotes from Walt Disney or Arnold Palmer. Hole 6 (“The Mouse Trap”) carries Walt Disney’s famous line: “I hope we never lose sight of one thing — that it was all started by a mouse.” Hole 15’s Arnold Palmer quote captures the challenge perfectly: “It’s a funny thing; the more I practice, the luckier I get.”

New Grumpy’s Gauntlet Merchandise

The Magnolia pro shop now stocks a dedicated Grumpy’s Gauntlet merchandise line:

All items feature Grumpy-themed artwork and Grumpy’s Gauntlet branding. If you play Magnolia and survive the back nine, the merchandise is a solid souvenir to commemorate the experience.

Other New Additions at Magnolia

Beyond the Gauntlet, Magnolia has also added an 18-hole putting green called the Greatest Green Ever Played, inspired by Disney’s golf film The Greatest Game Ever Played. The layout and hole locations change nearly every day, making it worth revisiting. It also doubles as a good warm-up area and a kid-friendly option before a full round.
