Disney Destiny Hercules Show: First Details of the Epic New Stage Spectacular

Hey Disney Vacationers! If you love Disney Cruise Line shows like I do, this is the one you need to know about. Disney just dropped exciting new details about the Disney Destiny Hercules show, and it’s shaping up to be the most epic production at sea yet. I’ve watched every show Disney has done on their ships, and what they’re doing on the Destiny is about to raise the bar even higher.

Let’s break down everything we now know — from the music to the puppets — and why this new Broadway-style retelling of Hercules might just be the new fan favorite onboard.

What Is the Disney Destiny Hercules Show?

The Disney Destiny Hercules show is a brand-new Broadway-style musical coming exclusively to the Disney Destiny cruise ship. It’s a fresh take on the 1997 animated film Hercules, with a stage adaptation focused on high-energy music, creative puppetry, and bold storytelling.

The show is one of three main productions on the Disney Destiny, joining returning favorites like Frozen, A Musical Spectacular and Disney Seas the Adventure.

A Contemporary Take on a Disney Classic

Let’s be clear — this is not just a retelling. Disney is bringing a new energy to this story. The Disney Destiny Hercules show stays true to the heart of the original movie but reimagines it with updated music, bold visuals, and larger-than-life theatrical moments.

Here’s what you can expect:

• A focus on the original movie soundtrack, with hits like:
  • “Go the Distance”
  • “Zero to Hero”
  • “I Won’t Say I’m in Love”
• All-new musical arrangements inspired by gospel and pop concert vibes
• The debut of “Shooting Star,” a never-before-heard ballad written by Alan Menken and David Zippel for the original film — making its first appearance ever on stage

This isn’t just nostalgia — it’s a full-blown celebration of the Hercules soundtrack with a modern twist.

The Muses Return in a Big Way

Yes, the Muses are back — and they’re running the show.

Just like in the movie, the Muses act as the storytellers, delivering the narrative through powerful vocals, humor, and nonstop charisma. Their presence is a big part of what made the film unforgettable, and it looks like Disney is doubling down on that for the stage.

Their over-the-top personalities, vocal power, and fashion-forward costumes will anchor the show’s storytelling. According to Disney, we can expect high-fashion costume designs to show the contrast between:

• The gods of Mount Olympus, who shine in luxury and bold colors
• The mortals and creatures, who wear more humble, grounded outfits

Massive Puppets and Mythical Monsters

This is where things get wild — and honestly, I can’t wait.

Disney has confirmed that award-winning puppet designer Michael Curry is leading the charge on the creature designs. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because he worked on the Tale of Moana stage show aboard the Disney Treasure — and it was jaw-dropping.

I saw that show in person. The puppetry? Unreal. The way they brought Te Fiti to life still blows my mind. I can’t even wrap my head around how they pulled it off on a moving ship.

So, here’s what we’re getting in the Disney Destiny Hercules show:

• Massive puppets representing mythical creatures like the Hydra
• New ways to portray gods, monsters, and humans
• Jaw-dropping stage effects and puppetry unlike anything seen on a Disney ship before

It’s all tied into the ship’s overall heroes vs. villains theme — and I’m here for it.

Exclusive to the Disney Destiny

This Hercules show isn’t touring across the fleet — it’s exclusive to the Disney Destiny. That makes it a must-see for anyone booking a sailing on this brand-new ship.

The Destiny is the latest ship in Disney Cruise Line’s fleet and debuts later this year with sailings from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Most itineraries are 4- or 5-night trips to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean, with a few select 7-night options.

So if you want to see the Hercules show on the Disney Destiny, you’ll have to cruise on this specific ship.

Final Thoughts: Why I’m So Pumped for This Show

I’ve done double-digit Disney cruises. I’ve seen every show they’ve staged. And I genuinely think the Disney Destiny Hercules show is going to be a turning point in how people see Disney Cruise Line entertainment.

From the bold puppet designs to the updated soundtrack, everything about this show screams high energy, big scale, and pure fun. And as someone who’s followed the evolution of these shows for years, this one feels different — bigger, smarter, and more creatively ambitious.

So yeah, I’m already planning my cruise. If you’re a Disney fan, this is one of those “book it now or regret it later” kind of moments. The Destiny is calling — and Hercules is going zero to hero once again.

I’m no stranger to Disney planning, as a Disneyland magic key holder and DVC member. I’m the person people ask for trip planning advice. But I had never been on a Disney cruise, and had heard great about Nate and decided to reach out. I’m so glad I did because we could not have been happier with our experience. His tips and insights were incredibly helpful, and he was incredibly responsive any time we had a question. Who do the Disney experts turn to when they need help? Nate, that’s who.

We’ll definitely be using him again.

Could not have wanted or expected more from Nate, our Distrips and More agent as we planned our 2025 Disney World trip. Nate was VERY responsive to emails and texts and more than willing to do whatever he could to guide us and answer our questions. On several occasions I emailed him over the weekend not expecting a response until Monday but each time he responded before the weekend was over. He even participated in a Zoom session with our group of five seniors as we planned our trip. He also helped us at the 11th hour when we added a family member to our travel group less than a month before our trip. Without a doubt, I will reach out to Nate when I'm ready to plan my next trip to Disney World!

We are so thankful we used Nate to plan not only our first Disney trip, but also our second. He made the process so easy for us, especially for us since it was our first time going. There was a lot to consider and many decisions to make, such as where to stay, when to go, and what to experience. Nate really helped us narrow down what we wanted to do overall, but he didn’t stop there. He provided detailed guides to help us navigate the airport and find our transportation to the resort, as well as a guide to explore the resorts and make sure we saw the best Christmas decorations. One of the many amazing things he also did was set up our dinner reservations for us. This saved us so much stress and allowed us to get some of our top choices. From the moment we landed in Orlando to the moment we headed back home, he made sure everything went smoothly. You truly can’t go wrong with going to him for your next trip.

Nathan has been an amazing trip planner for me! So helpful and responsive. I am a very type A person -- so someone who is even more on top of their game than me -- is so so appreciated! Nathan has booked 3 trips for me (1 completed 2 pending) and it was perfection. Thanks again!

Nate has helped us with our vacation planning for the last couple of years and we couldn't be happier with his service and expertise. We've used other travel agents in the past and none of them have done as phenomenal a job to make sure every detail is taken care of as he has. Switching to Nate was one of the best decisions we've ever made. He's always quick to answer questions and works tirelessly to make sure we get everything we want from our trips. Plus, he's just a genuinely great person who is wonderful to work with. Whether you're planning a trip to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, a Disney Cruise, or any other vacation, Nate is the guy you want putting it all together! Five stars across the board!
