Disney Celebrates America 250 is the company’s largest patriotic event in years — and if you’re planning to be at Walt Disney World this Fourth of July, you need to know exactly what’s happening. From a historic three-night fireworks run to a 24-hour broadcast blanketing every screen in America, Disney celebrates America 250 at Walt Disney World in a way that’s genuinely unlike anything they’ve done before.

Starting the evening of July 3 and running straight through July 4, ABC, Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, National Geographic, FX, Freeform, and ABC News Live will all carry a single 24-hour, cross-platform broadcast event. That’s essentially every major screen in the Disney ecosystem locked in for America’s 250th birthday.

David Muir leads coverage, joined by a large bench of ABC News talent including Diane Sawyer, Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Michael Strahan, Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, and Sara Haines, with reporters fanned out across all 50 states.

• Nashville’s Star-Spangled Bash — A live event in downtown Nashville with one of the largest combined fireworks and drone shows in U.S. history, set to a live score by the Grammy Award-winning Nashville Symphony
• Countdown to America’s 250th — Rare access inside the Statue of Liberty, produced with the Consulate General of France in New York
• Dawn of America — Tracing American history from colonial times through the Declaration of Independence
• America Expands Westward — A cross-country segment including a live broadcast from Disney Wonder in Ketchikan, Alaska

The June 29 Primetime Special

Before the main event, ABC airs a two-hour primetime special on June 29: Disney Celebrates America: The Pursuit of Happiness. It runs 8–10pm ET/PT, hosted by Deborah Roberts from Walt Disney World and Will Reeve from Disneyland. Think of it as the official kickoff — and a solid preview of what the 24-hour marathon will look like.

Walt Disney World: Three Nights of Fireworks at Both Parks

This is the part that should genuinely excite anyone with a trip planned around Independence Day. Typically Magic Kingdom hosts fireworks over two nights and EPCOT runs just one. This year both parks are doing three nights — July 3, 4, and 5. That’s a first.

• Magic Kingdom — Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky at 9pm (July 3, 4, 5)
• EPCOT — The Heartbeat of Freedom at 9:15pm (July 3, 4, 5)

The rest of the Walt Disney World America 250 experience includes patriotic lighting on Spaceship Earth, Voices of Liberty performances, the Electrical Water Pageant, themed décor along Main Street U.S.A., flag retreat ceremonies, the Dapper Dans and Main Street Philharmonic, an extended run of the Portraits of Courage exhibit honoring post-9/11 veterans, special performances from the United States Air Force Band of the West at Disney Springs, and limited-time food, beverage, and merchandise.

Soarin’ Across America Is Now Open at EPCOT

This is the biggest permanent change tied to the America 250 celebration. Soarin’ Across America replaces the California version of the attraction, taking guests on a flight across the United States instead. Confirmed stops include the New England coastline, Mount Rushmore, Washington D.C., New York City, and Grand Canyon West — plus more than a dozen additional sites.

The queue features National Geographic photography and a new trivia experience called The Soarin’ Challenge Across America. Original composer Bruce Broughton recorded a new arrangement of the iconic score specifically for this version.

Soarin’ Across America opens at Disney California Adventure on July 2 — one day before the extended WDW fireworks run begins.

Mickey and Minnie’s New Patriotic Look

Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse have new red, white, and blue patriotic ensembles debuting for the celebration. If you’re planning meet-and-greets, this is a good window to get photos with the new looks before they cycle out after July 4.

Disneyland Resort Offerings

West Coast guests get the return of Celebrate America! fireworks, a pre-show tribute ahead of World of Color, flag retreat ceremonies honoring veterans, themed décor on Main Street U.S.A. and Buena Vista Street, military band performances, and a celebratory cavalcade.

When Does It All Run?

Disney Celebrates America 250 started on Veterans Day 2025 and runs through July 4, 2026. The WDW fireworks run July 3–5 at both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT simultaneously. The 24-hour broadcast airs July 3–4. National Geographic’s summer storytelling package launches June 16.
