Singapore isn’t a random choice. It has become a growing hub for Disney’s Asia Pacific strategy in a very direct way. Earlier in 2026, Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Adventure launched from Singapore as its home port — making Singapore one of the few cities in the world with a dedicated Disney cruise ship calling it home. Hosting D23 Asia there doubles down on that momentum.

Asad Ayaz, Chief Marketing and Brand Officer at The Walt Disney Company, stated that bringing D23 to Singapore reflects the incredible passion of Disney fans across Asia Pacific and Disney’s desire to meet them where they are. That’s the clearest Disney has been about the region’s strategic importance in years.

The Singapore Tourism Board is also co-backing the event. Jean Ng, Assistant Chief Executive of the Experience Development Group, described it as “the very first time” D23 has come to Southeast Asia and said it strengthens their partnership with Disney. Government tourism backing at that level signals that this will be a fully supported, well-resourced event — not a small regional showcase.

D23’s History Outside the United States

D23 Asia 2027 follows a growing pattern of Disney expanding its fan convention presence internationally. D23 Japan took place in 2011, 2015, and 2018, bringing the convention experience to one of Disney’s most passionate fan bases in the world. D23 Brazil made its debut in 2024, marking the event’s first foray into South America.

D23 Asia 2027 continues that expansion, with Southeast Asia getting its first dedicated Disney fan convention. For the Asia Pacific region, which has never had a D23 event of this scale on its doorstep, the Singapore announcement is a genuinely historic moment for Disney fandom in the area.
