Next Disney CEO: Could Bob Iger’s Successor Be Announced Sooner Than Later?

Bob Iger, who resumed leadership in November 2022 after previously serving from 2005 to 2020, is set to retire at the end of 2026. Mayer emphasized the strength and readiness of Disney’s management, suggesting that the groundwork for a seamless transition has already been laid. “Bob’s there for two and a half more years. There’s plenty of time,” Mayer reassured, highlighting the robust team that stands ready. “They have a very, very solid management team across the board,” he added.

Disney’s next leader could emerge from within its own ranks, with four prominent names currently considered top contenders. Dana Walden and Alan Bergman, who co-lead the entertainment division, along with Josh D’Amaro, head of the parks division, and Jimmy Pitaro, chairman of ESPN, are reportedly in the running. Sooner Rather Than Later?

While Iger’s departure is a couple of years away, Mayer hinted that the announcement of his successor might arrive sooner than expected. “We may know this year, but he’s got two and a half more years, so it wouldn’t surprise me if it extended a little bit beyond this calendar year,” Mayer speculated. This suggests that while there’s no rush, the wheels of decision-making are certainly turning at Disney.

Could not have wanted or expected more from Nate, our Distrips and More agent as we planned our 2025 Disney World trip. Nate was VERY responsive to emails and texts and more than willing to do whatever he could to guide us and answer our questions.
