Planning on your laptop just got easier. The Disney World website search on DisneyWorld.com has been updated with rich results, bringing it closer to how search works in the My Disney Experience app.
Before, a search on the website mostly returned a list of page links. Now, when you type in a search phrase, the site tries to match it to locations across Walt Disney World and shows useful details right in the results, including live wait times and height requirements.
Quick Summary
- DisneyWorld.com search now shows rich result cards instead of just page links.
- Result cards can include the park or location, current estimated wait time, operating hours, height requirement, and a photo.
- Searching an attraction name also pulls in related nearby results, like character meets and shops.
- You can search by ride type, like “coasters,” to compare rides across multiple parks.
- It works much like search in the My Disney Experience app.
What’s in a Search Result Card
Each result card can include:
- The park or location name
- Current estimated wait time
- Operating hours
- Height requirement
- A photo of the attraction or location
That’s a big change from scrolling through a list of links and clicking into each page to find basic information.
Searching by Attraction Name
Search for “cosmic rewind,” and the top result is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT. In WDWMAGIC’s example, the card showed a 65-minute estimated wait, operating hours of 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, and the 42-inch (107 cm) height requirement.
The search also pulls in related results nearby, including:
- Meet Star-Lord near Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
- Treasures of Xandar, open 9:00 am to 9:00 pm
- EPCOT itself, open 9:00 am to 9:00 pm
That’s handy if you want to plan everything in one area of a park at once.
Searching by Ride Type
You don’t need an exact attraction name. A search for “coasters” returns roller coasters across multiple parks, each with its own wait time and height requirement. In WDWMAGIC’s example:
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios: 45-minute wait, 48 inches (122 cm) or taller
- The Barnstormer at Magic Kingdom: 15-minute wait, 35 inches (89 cm) or taller
- Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom: 20-minute wait, 44 inches (112 cm) or taller
- Slinky Dog Dash at Disney’s Hollywood Studios: 55-minute wait, 38 inches (97 cm) or taller
That makes it easy to compare rides side by side, or to quickly check which coasters your kids are tall enough to ride.
Why This Matters for Trip Planning
A lot of trip planning happens on a computer, not a phone. Until now, the website’s search wasn’t much help for quick questions like “How tall do you have to be for Space Mountain?” or “What’s the wait for Slinky Dog Dash right now?” The new cards answer those questions instantly.
It’s especially useful for families with young kids. If you’re trying to figure out which rides everyone can do together, a “coasters” search gives you every height requirement on one screen.
Tips for Using the New Search
- Search by category. Try terms like “coasters,” “shows,” or “character” to compare options across parks.
- Check heights before you go. Measure your kids at home, then use the search to build a list of rides they can enjoy.
- Use wait times as a guide, not a plan. Wait times change throughout the day, so what you see at home won’t match what you’ll see in the park.
- Double-check hours. Operating hours can shift for events and seasons, so confirm close to your visit.
- Use the app in the park. The website search is great for planning, but My Disney Experience is still the better tool once you’re on property.
How It Compares to the App
The new website search works much like search in the My Disney Experience app, which has offered location-based results for a while. Bringing that to the website makes the two feel more consistent, so you get similar answers whether you’re planning at your desk or checking your phone in line.
Disney has also been adding new tools to its site, including the Walt Disney World AI overview feature we covered earlier this year.
Good to Know
The wait times shown in the examples above are a snapshot from when WDWMAGIC tested the feature. Live wait times change all day, so treat any number you see at home as a rough guide. Height requirements and operating hours are the most reliable details for planning ahead, since they don’t change from minute to minute.
The Bottom Line
The Disney World website search now shows wait times, hours, height requirements, and photos right in the results, and you can search by ride type to compare attractions across parks. It’s a small change that makes planning on a computer much faster. Next time you’re building your park day, try searching “coasters” or your favorite ride and see what comes up.
