Holiday Sleigh Rides are bookable now at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort for December 2026 — and there is one date missing from the calendar that a lot of people are going to want.
The horse-drawn rides run December 1 through December 30, with December 24 excluded. Christmas Eve, the single most obvious night to take a sleigh ride through a decorated campground, is not on the schedule.
Quick Summary
- Runs December 1 through December 30, 2026 — December 24 is excluded
- $80 per sleigh, tax included — not per person
- Each ride is 25 minutes through the decorated campground
- Seats up to 4 adults, or 2 adults and 3 small children
- Departs from the Tri-Circle-D Ranch barn near the Settlement Bus Depot
- Book on My Disney Experience or Disney’s website, up to 60 days ahead
- Same-day and walk-up spots exist but are limited
- 24-hour cancellation policy — cancel inside a day or no-show and you pay in full
$80 Is Per Sleigh, Which Changes the Math
This is the number people get wrong, so it is worth stating clearly: $80 covers the sleigh, not each seat.
Four adults works out to $20 a head for 25 minutes. That is genuinely reasonable by Walt Disney World standards — cheaper per person than most dessert parties and a fraction of what the premium holiday add-ons cost.
Two people, though, and you are paying $40 each for the same 25 minutes. The value here scales directly with how many bodies you put in the sleigh.
Capacity caps at 4 adults, or 2 adults and 3 small children — so five people maximum, and only with the right mix. A family of six needs two sleighs, which is $160.
The Travel Time Is the Real Cost
Here is the part that deserves more attention than the price.
Disney’s own guidance: park at the main entrance of Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, take the complimentary internal bus to the Settlement Bus Depot, and allow at least 60 minutes for transportation — up to 90 minutes if you are coming from elsewhere on Walt Disney World property. Check in at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch barn at least 15 minutes before your time.
Add it up. Ninety minutes in, 15 minutes of check-in buffer, a 25-minute ride, and the trip back out. You are committing roughly three to three and a half hours of your evening for 25 minutes on a sleigh.
That is not a reason to skip it. Fort Wilderness at Christmas is one of the genuinely distinctive things on property, and the campground’s decorated loops are the whole reason the ride works. But it is a reason not to wedge this between a park day and a dinner reservation. Give the evening to Fort Wilderness, or do not do it.
If you are staying at Fort Wilderness or the Cabins, none of the above applies and this becomes a much easier yes.
December 24 Is Out
Disney has excluded Christmas Eve, and has not said why.
The practical effect is that the two highest-demand nights on the calendar are December 23 and December 25, and both are going to move fast. If a Christmas-adjacent sleigh ride is the goal, book one of those two now rather than assuming you will sort it out later.
The rest of December is open, and the earlier part of the month — the first and second weeks — will be the easiest to get and the least crowded at the campground generally.
The Fine Print Worth Reading
It runs in rain and cold. Rides operate in both, and may only be cancelled in extreme weather. Umbrellas, ponchos, and sunscreen are not provided — bring your own.
The cancellation policy cuts one way. A 24-hour window applies, and you are charged the full $80 if you cancel inside it or miss your reservation. Pair that with “operates in rain” and the asymmetry is clear: a drizzly forecast 12 hours out is not grounds for a free cancellation. Decide early or accept the risk.
It is not step-free. Guests using a wheelchair must be able to step up into the sleigh. If that is a barrier for anyone in your party, this one does not work.
Dress for actual cold. Central Florida in December gets genuinely chilly after dark, and you will be sitting still in an open sleigh moving through the air for 25 minutes. It will feel colder than the thermometer suggests.
How to Book
- My Disney Experience app or Disney’s website
- Bookable up to 60 days before your visit
- Same-day reservations and walk-ins are available on a limited basis, subject to availability
- Advance reservations are strongly recommended
Since the whole December window is now inside or near the 60-day mark, the full month is effectively open. December 23 and 25 are the two to grab.
You do not need park admission to visit Fort Wilderness, which makes this one of the better resort-day holiday activities for anyone without a ticket.
The Bottom Line
$80 per sleigh for a 25-minute horse-drawn ride through a decorated Fort Wilderness, December 1 through 30, with December 24 off the board.
Good value if you fill the sleigh, poor value for two people, and a three-hour evening commitment either way once you account for the transportation Disney itself tells you to budget 90 minutes for.
