Level99 will now tell you how a game works before you walk in. It would rather you didn’t ask.

Level99 at Disney Springs has replaced Hints with Instructions on all game entry screens, giving players the option to see exactly what they’re walking into before they start.

Quick Summary

  • Instructions have replaced Hints on all entry screens
  • The same lightbulb icon now shows Goal, Rules, and Star info
  • The change applies to all 63 game entry screens
  • Using it is entirely optional
  • Level99 would prefer you didn’t
  • Tickets start at $29.99 for 1.5 hours

What Changed

Previously, the lightbulb icon in the bottom right corner of each entry screen offered a hint.

That same icon now displays a pop-up with three pieces of information:

  • Goal — what you’re trying to achieve in the game
  • Rules — how the game works
  • Star info — how stars are earned

The change applies to all 63 ame entry screens at the Disney Springs location.

The Interesting Part

Using the instructions is completely optional — and Level99 says they’d prefer you don’t. That’s an unusual thing for a venue to say about its own feature, and it’s worth taking seriously rather than treating as reverse psychology.

Level99’s whole model is figuring out a game once you’re inside. You walk into a room, work out what the challenge is, and either solve it or don’t. The discovery is the product.

Full instructions undercut that by design. A player who reads the goal, the rules, and the star criteria before tapping in has converted an exploration into a task.

So Why Add Them?

Because the alternative failure mode is worse.

A group that wanders into a room, doesn’t understand what it’s meant to do, and burns two minutes of a timed session confused has a bad experience — and blames the venue, not themselves.

That’s especially likely at Disney Springs, where a large share of visitors are tourists trying Level99 once rather than regulars who’ve learned the format. A first-timer with a 90-minute ticket can’t afford several wasted rooms.

Instructions are a safety net for those players without forcing anything on anyone else. The icon was already there; the content behind it just got more useful.

Level99 asking you not to use it is them protecting the intended experience while acknowledging not everyone wants it. That’s a reasonable position, honestly stated.

How to Actually Use This

  • If you’re a first-timer: read the instructions for your first two or three rooms until you understand the general shape of how Level99 games work, then stop.
  • If you’re competitive about stars: the star info is the genuinely valuable part. Knowing how stars are earned before you start is the difference between clearing a room and clearing it well.
  • If you’re there for the experience: ignore the lightbulb entirely. That’s what Level99 wants, and it’s the better version of the venue.
  • If you’re in a mixed group: one person reading and relaying is faster than everyone crowding a screen, and preserves some discovery for the rest.

About Level99

Level99 is an interactive social gaming venue at Disney Springs West Side, featuring 63 life-sized mini-games across 46,800 square feet.

Tickets start at $29.99 for a 1.5-hour session, with a 2.5-hour option also available. Book at Level99.com.

Note the late closes. Level99 runs to 11pm or later every night, which makes it one of the few Disney Springs options for genuinely late entertainment — useful on an evening when the parks close early.

It’s also a rare non-Disney-IP attraction on property, and it charges separately from park admission. Worth knowing if you’re budgeting a Disney Springs day.

What Level99 Actually Is

Worth explaining properly, because it doesn’t resemble anything else at Disney Springs.

It isn’t an arcade and it isn’t an escape room, though it borrows from both. Level99 is a warren of individual challenge rooms — each a physical, life-sized puzzle or skill game you enter as a small group.

Some are physical: climbing, balance, obstacle challenges. Some are mental: logic puzzles, pattern recognition, cooperative problem-solving. Some are pure chaos.

You wander the venue picking rooms, and each one you complete earns stars based on performance. The stars are the scoring layer that turns a series of rooms into a session with a result.

That structure is why the Instructions change matters. With 63 rooms and a fixed clock, the cost of misunderstanding a room isn’t just confusion — it’s a chunk of a paid session.

The Time Pressure Is Real

A 1.5-hour session across 63 available rooms means you’ll play a fraction of them.

Even at a brisk pace, most groups clear somewhere between eight and fifteen rooms depending on how long they linger and how busy the venue is. Popular rooms develop queues.

That maths is what makes the 2.5-hour ticket worth considering if you’re going with a group that wants to explore rather than sample.

Practical Notes for a Visit

Wear proper shoes. Several rooms involve climbing, crawling, or moving quickly. Flip-flops after a park day are a bad idea.

Go in a group of two to four. Many rooms are built around cooperation, and larger groups end up taking turns rather than playing together.

Weekday afternoons are quietest. Evenings and weekends at Disney Springs push queues onto the more popular rooms.

There’s a full bar in the middle of the venue, which is a large part of the appeal for adult groups — and worth factoring in if you’re pacing a timed session.

It’s separately ticketed. Level99 is not included with park admission or any Disney ticket product, and Annual Passholder discounts don’t apply the way they do at Disney-operated locations.

The Bottom Line

Level99 at Disney Springs has swapped Hints for full Instructions on all 63 game entry screens, showing the goal, the rules, and how stars are earned before you enter a room.

It’s optional, and Level99 would rather you skipped it — the discovery is the point. But for first-timers on a timed ticket, it prevents the worst version of the experience.

Tickets start at $29.99 for 1.5 hours.

I’m no stranger to Disney planning, as a Disneyland magic key holder and DVC member. I’m the person people ask for trip planning advice. But I had never been on a Disney cruise, and had heard great about Nate and decided to reach out. I’m so glad I did because we could not have been happier with our experience. His tips and insights were incredibly helpful, and he was incredibly responsive any time we had a question. Who do the Disney experts turn to when they need help? Nate, that’s who. We’ll definitely be using him again.

Could not have wanted or expected more from Nate, our Distrips and More agent as we planned our 2025 Disney World trip. Nate was VERY responsive to emails and texts and more than willing to do whatever he could to guide us and answer our questions. On several occasions I emailed him over the weekend not expecting a response until Monday but each time he responded before the weekend was over. He even participated in a Zoom session with our group of five seniors as we planned our trip. He also helped us at the 11th hour when we added a family member to our travel group less than a month before our trip. Without a doubt, I will reach out to Nate when I'm ready to plan my next trip to Disney World!

We are so thankful we used Nate to plan not only our first Disney trip, but also our second. He made the process so easy for us, especially for us since it was our first time going. There was a lot to consider and many decisions to make, such as where to stay, when to go, and what to experience. Nate really helped us narrow down what we wanted to do overall, but he didn’t stop there. He provided detailed guides to help us navigate the airport and find our transportation to the resort, as well as a guide to explore the resorts and make sure we saw the best Christmas decorations. One of the many amazing things he also did was set up our dinner reservations for us. This saved us so much stress and allowed us to get some of our top choices. From the moment we landed in Orlando to the moment we headed back home, he made sure everything went smoothly. You truly can’t go wrong with going to him for your next trip.

Nathan has been an amazing trip planner for me! So helpful and responsive. I am a very type A person -- so someone who is even more on top of their game than me -- is so so appreciated! Nathan has booked 3 trips for me (1 completed 2 pending) and it was perfection. Thanks again!

Nate has helped us with our vacation planning for the last couple of years and we couldn't be happier with his service and expertise. We've used other travel agents in the past and none of them have done as phenomenal a job to make sure every detail is taken care of as he has. Switching to Nate was one of the best decisions we've ever made. He's always quick to answer questions and works tirelessly to make sure we get everything we want from our trips. Plus, he's just a genuinely great person who is wonderful to work with. Whether you're planning a trip to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, a Disney Cruise, or any other vacation, Nate is the guy you want putting it all together! Five stars across the board!
