Reading the Prices Properly
The numbers look alarming until you understand what they represent — and then some of them still look alarming.
These are total prices for four guests, not per person. The $5,242 inside cabin on the Bermuda sailing works out to roughly $1,310 per person for four nights, or about $328 per person per night, taxes and port fees included.
That’s within normal Disney Cruise Line range, though at the higher end. DCL has always priced above mainstream lines.
The concierge tiers are where it gets steep. $16,519 for the 7-night Canada sailing is roughly $4,130 per person, or $590 per person per night. Concierge on the Wish-class ships buys a private lounge, sundeck, dedicated staff, and included specialty offerings — but that’s a substantial premium over verandah.
The Value Outlier
Compare the last sailing to the rest. The October 31 – November 5 Bermuda cruise ending in San Juan starts at $4,602 inside — the cheapest on the list, and cheaper than the shorter 4-night Bermuda sailing.
That’s because it’s a repositioning cruise. The ship isn’t returning to New York; it’s ending in San Juan, which means you’re flying home from Puerto Rico rather than stepping off in Manhattan.
Repositioning sailings are consistently the best value in cruising because the line needs to move the ship anyway. The trade-off is one-way logistics.
If you’re price-sensitive and flexible on flights, that’s the sailing to look at. Factor the San Juan airfare in before deciding.
Why New York Matters
Homeporting in New York is a genuine strategic move rather than a routine schedule addition.
It puts a Disney ship within driving distance of the largest population centre in the United States. The New York metro area is roughly 20 million people, and the Northeast corridor extends that reach substantially further.
Drive-to markets change the economics of a cruise for families. Four flights to Port Canaveral is a significant cost on top of the fare. Driving to Manhattan or taking a train removes it entirely.
Disney has sailed from New York before, but not consistently, and putting the Wish there — one of the newest and largest ships in the fleet — signals more confidence than sending an older vessel.
The Fall Timing Is Deliberate
Late September through early November is Bermuda and Canada/New England season, and it’s when those itineraries are at their best — Bermuda still warm, New England in autumn colour.
It also fills a gap in the Caribbean calendar. Hurricane season peaks in September and October. Moving a ship north during that window is sound fleet management as well as a good product.
Three Halloween on the High Seas sailings land in the middle of it, which is DCL’s strongest seasonal overlay outside the holidays.
What’s Still Missing
Booking details, including Castaway Club tiers and general on-sale dates, haven’t been released.
That matters more than it sounds for DCL specifically. Castaway Club members book ahead of the general public in tiered windows — Pearl, Platinum, Gold, Silver — and popular itineraries can be substantially picked over before general on-sale opens.
If you’re a repeat Disney cruiser, watch for those dates. If you’re not, expect the best cabin categories on the Halloween sailings to move quickly.
