Frontierland is getting its saloon back. The Diamond Horseshoe is reopening for dining this fall at Magic Kingdom, and Disney shared a first look at the food and drinks coming with it.

Why It Closed
Table service dining at the Diamond Horseshoe ended on May 16, 2026, so the venue could host Jessie’s Roundup, a Toy Story experience running during Cool Kids’ Summer from May 26 through September 8, 2026.
Disney had said dining would resume in fall 2026, and now there’s a preview of what’s coming back with it.
That timeline lines up cleanly. Jessie’s Roundup wraps September 8, leaving Disney a window to reset the space before a fall dining return.
What’s on the New Menu
Disney previewed a few items from the limited-time menu, starting with a shareable charcuterie board including:
- Cured beef
- “Fancy bacon”
- Smoked pork
- Green chile cheese
- Smoked cheddar
- Pickles
More small plates are expected to be announced later.
The Board Signals a Format Change
Pay attention to what this item is, because it tells you what the restaurant is becoming.
The Diamond Horseshoe historically served family-style table service — platters of comfort food brought to your table at a fixed price. That’s a full-commitment meal.
A shareable charcuterie board plus “more small plates to be announced” describes something different: a grazing venue where you order a few things and drink.
Combined with two signature cocktails leading the preview, the Diamond Horseshoe looks to be repositioning as a lounge-style stop rather than a sit-down dinner.
That’s arguably the better use of the space. Frontierland has limited seated air-conditioned options, and a place to sit with a drink and a board fills a genuine gap in a way another full-service restaurant wouldn’t.
“Fancy bacon” as a menu descriptor is also a choice, and an appropriately Frontierland one.
New Drinks
Two new beverages are part of the preview:
Enchanting Ember Lemonade — Minute Maid Premium Lemonade, strawberry, and hot honey, finished with a chili-lime rim. Non-alcoholic, so it works for the whole family.
Cactus Rose Margarita — LALO Blanco Tequila, prickly pear, lime, and agave. Bright pink and photogenic, and a genuinely refreshing option.
Hot honey with a chili-lime rim on a non-alcoholic lemonade is a more interesting build than most family-friendly theme park drinks get. Sweet, spicy, sour, and salty in one glass.
Prickly pear is also the right regional note for a Frontierland margarita — it reads Southwestern without leaning on generic “desert” theming.
Thanksgiving Dinner Moves Next Door
If you’re a fan of the family-style Thanksgiving dinner at The Diamond Horseshoe, you’ll still be able to get it. Those items are moving next door to Liberty Tree Tavern for the season.
That’s a sensible relocation. Liberty Tree Tavern already runs a family-style format year-round, and its Colonial theming suits a Thanksgiving meal considerably better than a frontier saloon does.
It also frees the Diamond Horseshoe to be whatever this new small-plates concept turns out to be, without maintaining a separate holiday operation.
If Thanksgiving at Magic Kingdom is part of your tradition, book Liberty Tree Tavern rather than the Diamond Horseshoe this year.
What We Still Don’t Know
Disney hasn’t shared full details on reservations for the new Diamond Horseshoe menu, but walk-ups will still be an option. More menu items and booking details are expected soon.
Outstanding questions:
- An exact reopening date beyond “fall 2026”
- Whether reservations will be available or if it’s walk-up only
- Pricing for any of the items
- Operating hours — a lounge-style venue might run different hours than table service did
- The rest of the small plates menu
What This Means for a Magic Kingdom Day
Walk-ups are the headline. Magic Kingdom table service is almost entirely reservation-dependent, and a walk-up option with real food and cocktails in Frontierland is genuinely useful.
It’s also a trick-or-treat stop. The Diamond Horseshoe is one of the 13 confirmed trick-or-treat locations for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2026, which runs through October 31.
Frontierland dining is thin. Pecos Bill and Golden Oak Outpost are quick service. Adding a seated venue with a bar improves the area meaningfully.
