What Is Evil Dead Burn?

The Evil Dead franchise dates back to 1981, when Sam Raimi’s low-budget independent horror film became a cult classic. Over the decades it has grown into one of horror’s most enduring properties, and the latest installment, Evil Dead Burn, continues the tradition of blending extreme gore with dark humor.

At the center of every Evil Dead story is the Book of the Dead — an ancient text that unleashes supernatural parasitic demons. Once released, these demons possess and contort their victims into Deadites, the franchise’s signature monsters.

That’s the ingredient list that makes this work as a haunted house. Deadites are physically contorted, they move wrong, and they scream. Scare actors can do a lot with that.

Inside the House

The haunted house follows the story of Evil Dead Burn, beginning at the Price family’s secluded vacation home in the woods.

From there the nightmare escalates, with ferocious Deadites around every corner as guests move deeper into the house — until they find themselves consumed by the evil forces entirely.

Universal describes it as a firsthand journey through the film’s most frightening moments.

Why This House Should Land

Cabin-in-the-woods is the strongest possible starting point for an HHN maze. It gives the design team tight corridors, low ceilings, dim lighting, and a clear escalation path from normal to catastrophic.

Compare that to a house built around a sprawling property or an outdoor setting, where Universal has to fake scale in a soundstage. Evil Dead Burn doesn’t have that problem. The whole story happens in a confined space, which is exactly what a haunted house is.

Expect this to be one of the higher-rated houses of the year.

Evil Dead Burn Merchandise Is Available Now

A limited-release Evil Dead Burn merchandise collection is available at both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood starting July 21. It goes on sale online July 22 at 9am PST at shopUniversal.com.

The collection includes:

  • A T-shirt
  • A hat
  • An Evil Dead Burn acrylic figure for the Infernal Carnival collectible display

Additional merchandise will follow later this year.

The acrylic figure is the piece to watch. Infernal Carnival collectible display pieces are designed as a set, and completing a set means buying each piece as it releases. Limited-release HHN collectibles do not restock reliably.

New Ticket Options at Universal Orlando

Universal Orlando guests can now purchase a Halloween Horror Nights Fear Pass, giving repeated access to the event throughout the season. This year’s Fear Pass options are:

  • Rush of Fear Pass
  • Frequent Fear Pass
  • Frequent Fear Plus Pass
  • Ultimate Frequent Fear Pass

The Scream Early add-on ticket has also been enhanced this year, giving guests entry to Universal Studios Florida from 2pm with early access to select haunted houses before the event officially starts.

Annual and Seasonal Passholders can save on select single-night August and September event tickets. Premier Passholders receive one complimentary Halloween Horror Nights event admission, subject to availability and requiring a reservation.

Which Pass Should You Buy?

The honest math: if you’re going more than twice, a Fear Pass almost always beats single-night tickets.

Rush of Fear covers the opening stretch of the season, which is the best value window because crowds are lower in late August and early September. Frequent Fear covers more nights but blocks out the busiest ones. Ultimate Frequent Fear covers everything, including October Saturdays, and costs accordingly.

If you can only go once, buy Scream Early instead of upgrading your pass. Getting into houses from 2pm before the event officially opens is worth more than almost any other add-on at this event.

Ticket Options at Universal Studios Hollywood

At Universal Studios Hollywood, ticket options include:

  • General Admission
  • Universal Express
  • R.I.P. Tour
  • Day/Night
  • After 2pm Day/Night
  • Early Access Ticket, which gets guests into select haunted houses from 5:30pm

The Frequent Fear Pass and Ultimate Fear Pass are also available for repeat visits throughout the season. Full terms and ticket details are at universalstudioshollywood.com/hhn.

Halloween Horror Nights 35 Dates and Lineup

Halloween Horror Nights 35 runs select nights at Universal Orlando Resort from August 28 through November 1, and at Universal Studios Hollywood from September 3 through November 1.

Evil Dead Burn joins Stranger Things — based on the fifth and final season of the Netflix series — as a confirmed haunted house for this year’s event. Additional houses will be announced soon.

The Bottom Line

Evil Dead Burn Halloween Horror Nights opens August 28 in Orlando and September 3 in Hollywood, taking guests from the Price family’s cabin in the woods into a full Deadite nightmare.

Buy your Fear Pass now if you’re going more than twice, grab the Scream Early add-on if you’re only going once, and pick up the acrylic figure before the limited release sells through. This is shaping up to be one of the stronger HHN lineups in years.
