Universal Orlando has announced that Express Pass access to Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure will be removed on July 1, 2026. The change is framed as a guest experience improvement — but the underlying reason is clear: Express Pass was creating satisfaction problems in both the standby and Express lanes simultaneously, and Universal decided the fix was to eliminate the Express option entirely.

Quick Summary

  • Express Pass access to Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure is being removed on July 1, 2026
  • Universal announced the change on May 26, 2026
  • Official reason: to “improve the flow of the experience for all Guests”
  • The real reason: guest satisfaction scores were low in both standby and Express lanes due to Express access slowing the standby queue
  • It is unclear if the Single Rider line will return once Express is removed
  • Updated touring strategies for Islands of Adventure will follow as July 1 approaches

Why Hagrid’s Express Is Going Away

When Universal was asked about the decision, they cited improving the flow of the experience for all guests. The more specific picture: guest satisfaction in both the standby line and the Express lane had been dragging, with Express access slowing the standby queue enough to create a negative experience for the majority of visitors riding in the standard line.

Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure has consistently ranked as one of the best theme park attractions in the world since its opening. The ride’s immersive quality and relatively high operational complexity make it particularly sensitive to queue management issues. With Express removed, the standby line should move more consistently and predictably — improving satisfaction for the vast majority of guests who never had Express access to begin with.

What This Means for Your Trip

If you currently hold an Express Pass for Universal Orlando and were counting on using it for Hagrid’s, you still have until June 30 to do so. Starting July 1, Express Pass holders will not have a dedicated access lane for the attraction.

Whether the Single Rider line — which was previously suspended — returns after the Express lane closes is still unclear. Universal has not confirmed that detail. If the single rider option comes back, it would give solo travelers or flexible groups a faster access option beyond the general standby queue.

Hagrid’s is typically the busiest ride at Universal Orlando on any given day. Without Express, the keys to riding efficiently become arriving at park open and heading straight to Hogsmeade, or using a virtual queue if Universal implements one.
