Henson, son of Muppets creator Jim Henson and current chairman of The Jim Henson Company, revealed the news during a Q&A at his Puppet Up! improv show at The Montalbán theater in Los Angeles. The Daily Dot reported his remarks. For fans who said goodbye to the show at Hollywood Studios, this is genuinely exciting news.

During the Q&A, Henson confirmed that the team did a thorough job capturing MuppetVision 3D for the VR experience. He added that users will be able to sit in any seat in the Muppet Theater — and change their viewpoint at any time during the show. That’s a capability the fixed theater seating at Hollywood Studios never allowed. The idea of choosing your own perspective inside the Muppet Theater, from your couch at home, is a pretty compelling use of the format.
Why This Makes Sense for Disney and Apple
Disney has been one of Apple Vision Pro’s most committed launch partners. The platform already hosts Disney+ Theater — an immersive viewing environment inspired by the historic El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood — which visually echoes the former Muppet Theater at Hollywood Studios. Bringing MuppetVision 3D into that ecosystem is a natural next step that deepens Disney’s Vision Pro presence with beloved IP.
Context: MuppetVision 3D’s Closure
MuppetVision 3D closed at Hollywood Studios in late 2024. At the time of the closure announcement, Disney said: ‘We are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.’ A Vision Pro release is exactly that kind of preservation effort — keeping the experience alive in a new format rather than letting it disappear entirely.
What We Don’t Know Yet
No official release date or platform announcement has been made by Disney. Henson’s comments are the clearest signal yet, but this hasn’t been formally confirmed through Disney’s official channels. Expect an official announcement to come once the Vision Pro experience is closer to launch.
MuppetVision 3D on Apple Vision Pro is one of the more creative uses of the platform that’s been announced.
