Hey Disney Vacationers! If you’ve been wondering where Animal Kingdom’s burgers and chicken strips are headed, we finally have a clear answer.
Walt Disney World has updated the Harambe Market webpage, confirming that Harambe Market will reopen with a new menu, just in time to fill a big food gap at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Harambe Market has been closed since late October for refurbishment. That closure now lines up with another major change in the park. Restaurantosaurus is closing, along with DINOSAUR and the rest of DinoLand USA. That means Animal Kingdom needs a new home for classic theme park food, fast.
Harambe Market is stepping into that role.
Quick Summary
- Harambe Market soft opened on February 2, 2026
- Full operations begin on February 5, 2026
- The new menu includes burgers and chicken strips
- Guests can Mobile Order from Harambe Market
- This update prevents a quick-service food gap after Restaurantosaurus closes
Harambe Market Reopening Date and Soft Opening Details
Harambe Market soft opened starting February 2, 2026.
That timing matters.
Restaurantosaurus closed on February 2, with its final day of operation on February 1, alongside DINOSAUR and the rest of DinoLand USA.
Because of this soft opening, there will be zero days without burgers and chicken strips at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
February 5, 2026, will be the first day of full operations at Harambe Market.
Mobile Order at Harambe Market
Guests will be able to Mobile Order from Harambe Market using the My Disney Experience app.
This is an important update. With Restaurantosaurus closing, demand for quick-service meals will spike. Mobile Order helps manage lines and speeds up meal pickup, especially during busy afternoons.
New Description for Harambe Market
Disney also shared a refreshed description for the location, which helps explain the expanded menu:
“Constructed around an old colonial-era train depot and lorded over by an iconic water tower, this active marketplace showcases distinct personalities and menu—created using produce and raw goods delivered daily by the local locomotive.
Here, the citizens of Harambe welcome travelers from all around the world, encouraging Guests of every age to tantalize their senses by enjoying a classic Angus Burger, crispy Chicken Strips, a hearty Harissa Chicken Wrap or a refreshing salad of mixed greens, lentils, carrots and couscous.” – Walt Disney World
This confirms that the menu update is intentional and permanent for now, not a temporary filler.

Why This Menu Change Matters Right Now
The timing of this update is not random.
With DinoLand USA closing, Animal Kingdom loses its most familiar quick-service food location. Flame Tree Barbecue and Satu’li Canteen are popular, but they serve very different food styles.
Adding burgers and chicken strips to Harambe Market keeps the park balanced. It gives Guests a reliable, familiar option without forcing everyone into longer lines at other locations.
From a park operations standpoint, this does a lot of heavy lifting.
What Happens to This Menu in the Future?
This is the one open question.
Harambe Market is located in Africa, and burgers and chicken strips are not a natural fit for that land’s food story. They also would not align cleanly with the upcoming Tropical Americas area.
There are rumors that this type of menu could move closer to Discovery Island in the future, where traditional theme park food fits more naturally.
For now, this solution makes sense. Disney tends to keep food offerings aligned with land themes over time, especially at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. That suggests this menu could change again once the park’s next phase opens.
My Thoughts
This is a practical move, and it solves a real problem.
Animal Kingdom needed a quick-service location that could handle volume and serve familiar food. Harambe Market now fills that role without leaving a gap during a major land closure.
The menu feels simple, direct, and guest-friendly. Mobile Order support makes it even better.
Whether this setup lasts long term is still unknown, but for February 2026, this is the right answer at the right time.
