Mine-Cart Madness & Harry Potter Battle at the Ministry Express Pass Now Available at Epic Universe

Hey Universal Vacationers! If you’ve been waiting for Universal to finally add Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry to Express Pass, the wait is over. Universal Orlando Resort just confirmed that both Battle at the Ministry and Donkey Kong Mine-Cart Madness are now part of the Express Pass lineup at Epic Universe. As a fan who’s been watching these changes closely, I can tell you this update makes Express Pass a whole lot more valuable.

What Changed with Express Pass

According to Universal Orlando Resort, Express Pass can now be used at Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry and Donkey Kong Mine-Cart Madness. Both rides originally opened without Express Pass access, despite their queues being built with space to support it.

Universal quietly updated the attraction pages and the Express Pass information page on its website to reflect the change. While the online ticket checkout flow hasn’t been updated yet, Universal has confirmed that Express Pass will now let you skip the regular line once at each of these rides.

Why This Update Matters

Here’s the thing: Harry Potter Battle at the Ministry and Mine-Cart Madness are two of the most popular rides at Epic Universe. Wait times for these attractions have regularly soared past two hours on busy days. Without them, Express Pass at Epic Universe felt incomplete — you were paying $190–$340 per person, per day, and still waiting in the longest lines.

Now, Express Pass feels much more like the premium option it’s priced to be. If you’re already spending the money to maximize your day, being able to cut your wait for the park’s most in-demand rides is a game changer.

The Fine Print on Epic Universe Express

It’s important to understand how Express works at Epic Universe:

• Express Pass: Skip the line once per ride at participating attractions, including now Harry Potter Battle at the Ministry and Mine-Cart Madness.
• Express Unlimited: Skip the line as many times as you want per ride, but this version is not available at Epic Universe.

So if you want to ride Harry Potter Battle at the Ministry twice, you’ll have to wait in the regular line after using Express the first time.

Guest Strategy Tips

Adding these two rides into the lineup also changes how I’d plan my day:

• Save Express for later: If you rope drop Harry Potter Battle at the Ministry at park opening, use Express for Mine-Cart Madness in the afternoon when lines peak.
• Pair with Virtual Lines (if they become available): Keep an eye out if Universal adjusts queue systems. Right now, Express is your best bet to guarantee shorter waits on these headline attractions.
• Budget smartly: At $190–$340 per person, per day, Express isn’t cheap. But with these rides included, the value is finally in line with the price.

Epic Universe Context

Epic Universe is Universal Orlando’s newest theme park, packed with lands based on Harry Potter, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon, and Classic Monsters. Universal designed the park with expansive queues and new ride technology, which is partly why some attractions launched without Express access.

By officially adding Harry Potter Battle at the Ministry and Mine-Cart Madness, Universal is signaling that it’s ready to handle Express demand across its most complex rides.

Final Thoughts

The addition of Donkey Kong Mine-Cart Madness and Harry Potter Battle at the Ministry Express Pass makes Universal’s premium skip-the-line product far more appealing at Epic Universe. If you’ve been holding back on purchasing Express because the best rides weren’t included, this update changes the math.

Universal may not have Express Unlimited at Epic Universe, but even with the single-use version, getting to bypass the two longest lines in the park could save you hours in your day. Could not have wanted or expected more from Nate, our Distrips and More agent as we planned our 2025 Disney World trip.
